Supporting Parents With Disabilities
Are you or someone you know a parent with physical or intellectual disabilities? My cousin and his girlfriend were already living semi-independently before they had their baby. They have a very hard time raising her, both physically and mentally. I know the only way the baby is going to be able to stay with them is if they have a huge village supporting them. Luckily, our family is very active in supporting/advocating for them, and I have a large community who I've slowly been introducing them to, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this already. Any advice? I want to avoid any internalised ablism I hold too, so please give me examples of ways I could accidentally do the wrong thing.
