Are critical/accusatory anti-smoking ads even helpful to smokers?

I have a feeling this might be a loaded question, but I don't know how else to phrase it. I'm not a smoker, nor am I an expert on nicotine addiction or addiction in general, but I just have a feeling that those ads where they constantly talk about how smoking is awful, shameful, and hurts people makes me think it only makes smokers want to hide their addiction rather than actually rehabilitate.

How do smokers deal with the bad taste of their first smoke?

I don't mean this to be offensive to smokers, I just genuinely don't understand. I've never smoked, but I have smelled it, and it always made me cough, dizzy, and leave a bad taste in my mouth.

What if the EDSA Revolution failed?

I'll attempt to predict on what would have happened had it failed, but I'd also like to hear your suggestions. This is also my first alt-history, so it won't be as well-made as others.

I think two things are necessary for dictator, Marcos, to do to win. First, he needs to actually pay and reform the military well while also keeping them loyal, maybe implement more interventionist, exclusionary measures. Second, he has to exploit religion. Filipinos are very Catholic, so the best possible scenario I could come up with is that he frames certain people as 'Anti-Catholics,' while also making sure to avoid attacking Church figures so as not to anger Filipinos. The goal is to drown out the protests of the church by focusing as intensely as possible on minority groups. This is especially important as Marcos is basically the worst person to handle money.

For the actual revolution itself, I think of two equally plausible scenarios. The first is that the revolution didn't happen in the first place. There would likely still be revolutions, but it wouldn't be the same peaceful mass protests and civil disobedience with many coalitions of people coming together to oust him out. The second is that the revolution does start, but is weaker without as much military and religious support as it happened in our world. It's likely that the protests would be quickly and violently quelled, and Marcos would use it as further justification and distraction.

Afterwards, I think the Marcos regime would have fallen anyway. It might've lasted a few more years, but you can only rule with only an iron fist for so long. With a prolonged, severe economic crisis, which would only hurt the loyalty of the military and the police, I think Marcos would've been overthrown in a military coup. Still, it's possible he could've survived had the US decided to continue support to the Philippines once the recession ends, but I don't think that's likely. The fuse is too short to run away far enough from the bomb.

With military rule, I think the situation can only get worse. Sure, they don't have to deal with a kleptomaniac anymore, but they still don't have enough money. Without money, you can expect a lot of defections and protests, especially since new administrations are always judge more harshly. There might have been a Filipino civil war between various factions, mainly the military, the communists, and the Islamic terrorists. Without foreign intervention, it's pretty likely that the civil war will last for years, and since the Philippines is a large archipelago, it's possible the Philippines could remain a bunch of disparate factions for so long that new nationalities form, and the concept of a Filipino and a united Philippines would be gone. Or if that doesn't happen, maybe the more likely scenario would be that the military wins and remains a more lenient authoritarian regime backed by western governments.

Manchuria's democratic party is 'Bandits?'

Sometimes I like to roleplay as a moral democracy, and when I played Japan and 'liberated' Manchuria (I actually just changed its government - didn't trust Chiang Kai-Shek) it became a democracy ruled by a party called Bandits? Why did this happen? Is it some glitch?

It's really weird to me that people are so aggressive over nothing

I recently made a post here about how I feel like I identify more as a cosmopolitan than a specific country, and so many people just started becoming aggressive and insulting me out of nowhere, even one calling my feelings a disease. Why are people so aggressive when I have done nothing to them?

I really think my dad is the best dad anyone could ask for

It's late at night and I'm tired so I am just gonna explain shit quickly. He is awesome because he actually listens, you know how rare that is? I don't know why it's so hard for people to listen, but it's second nature to him. Also, he's incredibly smart, like Einstein, is compassionate, and is an incredibly good teacher. I think I'll make dads reading this jealous.

The Nazis honestly feel more like generic goons than actual Nazis

I get that I'm complaining about a game series where there is ancient, space-god Jewish technology, they conquered two planets within two decades, every soldier is a part of the SS instead of the actual military, and on, to which I say: I wanna really kill Nazis. Aside from speaking German, there's honestly nothing really Nazi other than a few bit of dialogues. I feel like if the devs made the Nazis really, truly Nazis, like true insight into their evil ideology, I think that would make killing them feel a lot more satisfying. Also, I think it'd be awesome if we get to actually destroy Nazi stuff with the E button. I would love it if there was like an achievement for burning 88 Nazi flags, and breaking 14 portraits of some really evil Nazis.

I honestly identify more as a citizen of Earth rather than of a nation

I obviously won't be obnoxious about it, like if I go to apply for a license, of course I'd say I'm an American, but that's just for practical purposes. Personally and privately, I identify more as a human being sharing common characteristics with all people on Earth, good and bad, man and woman, young and old, rather than of a specific country, like the US or the Philippines. While I do understand why people personally identify more with a country than the world, I just can't bring myself to exclude others from my values, that being science, love, and compassion. The world is just too beautiful for me to only find one spot of land as 'me' - everything about the world, all its beauty and horrors, is connected to 'me.'
