Underratedly Influential Albums

Bon Iver, Bon Iver — Bon Iver. The combination of indie folk and electronic music that has become very popular in the last 15 years can all be traced back to this album and Justin Vernon’s willingness to be such a one of a kind creative force.

New Phoebe Bridgers Single “Lost Boys”

What a perfect song. Love the alt-country direction on this song, fits perfectly with the album title and posters for the tour. Can definitely feel the Bo Burnham vibes on the song; and Jack Antonoff continues to prove that he is a great producer that people unfairly criticize.

(Also produced by Alex G?!?! She’s bringing out the depression Avengers on this one.)

Who Are Your Favorite Musical Innovators

Wendy Carlos helped make synths accessible to general audiences in the late 60s working with Robert Moog, and her landmark album Switched On Bach. Without her we wouldn’t have gotten about 80% of the pop music made in the last 60 years.

One Album You Wish You Could Unhear

I regret listening to Nostalgia Critic’s The Wall, even for the shits and giggles. One of the hardest things I’ve had to sit through.

Favorite First Listen Of The Year (That Wasn’t Released in 2026)

As a huge shoegaze/dream pop fan I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to get to come around to Parannoul, but boy am I glad that I did. To See the Next Part of the Dream is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time. Its blend of unrelenting, wall of sound production and intricate, delicate melodies works so well to make such a heartbreakingly beautiful album.

Recent Albums That Surprised You

I’ve been a huge fan of Gorillaz for a long time, but coming off their last Album Cracker Island, which I didn’t really care for, I was surprised by just how great The Mountain is. Gorillaz are always best when they are leaning into a specific concept and The Mountain more than delivers that, building on themes of loss and grief that hit home for me. Truly a great return to form for them.
