It's our birthday today, hers 3 years old! Hers so goshdeng stinkin cute!

We were able to time her birthday down to within a few days either way of my birthday, so we decided it was my birthday. Sharing a birthday with your cat is an easy way to make sure I don't forget it! I love this cat so deng much, she's so stinkin shiny and sweet and cute!

I made this using the game files and I love it so much (more pics in comments)

Blender with an add-on called PyNifly to load the game files, lots of subdividing and using a displacement map generated from the normal map. I'm quite happy with the detail, I printed it with 0.12mm layers. I'll probably do another with a better filament than matte black, but I still think it looks great on my wall.

I will the cat roughly

Her "I love this so much" meow sounds a lot like a "plz stop" meow...but I reckon if she didn't like it she wouldn't be purring so hard and keep coming back...

Power lock/unlock isn't working at all

This seems like it's probably a fuse. It's a work truck, 2025 with only 22k miles, all but 300 of them from me.

I used the key fob to unlock the doors at around 3:30, opened the passenger door to get some stuff then used the button on the door to lock. At around 4:30 I remote started the truck from the app, went out a few minutes later to put some stuff away and used the fob and it didn't unlock. I tried a few times, both lock and unlock. The alarm button still works.

I used the key to unlock the door and tried the buttons on the door, no work. I tried to lock/unlock from the app, no work. When I push the button on the fob/app, the lights flash, just...nothing happens.

I started driving home and usually the doors lock at like 10mph, but they didn't this time. They usually unlock when I put it in park.

Basically all of the electronic methods of locking/unlocking don't work. Fuse seems the most likely, but I know vehicles these days are just computers with wheels, so, sanity check.

Finally put together a simple control panel for my bathroom speaker, on an old phone.

I have a couple of radio stations using AzuraCast. Normally the speaker is just playing the Lofi radio quietly, but the shower button switches it to the My Music station and turns it up for me. The radio stations just shuffle through the music I added. I can't skip tracks or control anything other than the volume, and that's perfectly ok with me.

After a lot of figuring out, I made the dashboard *exactly* the right size so that the phone wouldn't scroll. I made HA the default launcher on the phone and made a new "bathroom phone" user to set the default dashboard.

It's simple, but I like it. The background is animated too, it uses card-mod on an iframe card to load a self-hosted webpage with a little javascript animation I wrote, then make it full-page and hide the card. The clock is part of the page so I didn't need to add a clock card to the dashboard :)

When I'm finished with my shower I just turn the speaker off, there's an automation to reload the lofi radio if the speaker is off for 3 seconds. The off button in the tile card does just the bathroom, the big button turns off all speakers so they'll all reload.

Why is the Internet so hostile now?!

YouTube tanking CPU if you're using ad blockers. Sites that disable scrolling and have a full-screen modal dialog demanding that you allow ads or sign up (imgur). The least egregious I've seen is sites that serve their own ads if they can't load the real ones.

There was a banner ad on my bank account page, *after* I had already logged in, there's a banner that I have to scroll past to see my accounts. That's ridiculous! I blocked the domain serving the banner and all of a sudden the site where I buy my cat litter doesn't work. Apparently it uses the same CDN.

If I'm scrolling a page and suddenly a full-screen modal shows up begging for my email and asking me to sign up, I just close the page. That shit is hostile, they clearly don't want me to read the page if they're going to cover it with an ad for their *own site* that I'm *already on*. I hate it equally when I move my mouse off the page and *that's* when the pop-up appears. "Wait, please don't go, please stay, give us your email give us your phone number, give us your cat!"...*slow rage*

Maybe I'm just getting old but I really miss the days where I didn't have to figure out which download button was the real one, or try to find the sliver of text between huge banner ads that scroll with the page. I just want to scroll my cat memes while I wait for work, dammit!

Why does it have to be like this?! I know, I know: money, but jeez man...

It's not a trap, but it is a trick

She lays like this so that I'll reach down and touch. I'm allowed to, she loves it, but she *suuuuper* subtly (/s) rolls toward the string so I might accidentally touch it, at which point I'm contractually obligated to play. Idk what it is about that string specifically, but it's her favorite.

She loves to be petted, just not when she's up on her shelves. 10/10, would try again.

Update: I texted my HR saying I had a question about my paycheck, they got back to me immediately saying they thought they knew what it was and just offered to credit the 7 hours of vacation back. I believe this was a mistake that just slipped by and I'm perfectly happy that they credited the vacation time back. All is well.

------------------------------------------------

My employer pays up to 8 hours of "bonus" every week, to account for finishing a scheduled job early. It is clearly defined how and when we earn our bonus. Our pay week runs sunday-saturday and we work sunday-thursday, and on a rotation we'll occasionally get a mandatory extra friday job.

I had put in a vacation request several weeks prior to take off friday 4/17 through saturday 4/25. I covered friday just in case I was on the rotation for the extra friday, but this week I wasn't.

I worked the week of sun 4/12 through thursday 4/16 and earned my bonus, I should have gotten 7 hours of bonus pay.

Instead they used 7 hours of my vacation. I double checked, I wouldn't have been on the rotation for the friday job, so they didn't need to use my vacation to cover the extra. Friday isn't a normal day we work, it's equivalent to a saturday in a normal schedule.

I feel like they did me dirty, taking 7 hours of vacation instead of paying me the 7 hours of bonus I had already earned by thursday. I'll have to work 3 weeks to make up that 7 hours of vacation 😞
