PSA: Asked twice in one block if I ~"have a piece of paper to write something down". When in doubt just keep going. You with your bike/phone/wallet are a tasty meal, just keep going.
The more I thought about it the sketchier it seemed. Dodgy characters wanting me to stop. JUST KEEP GOING. Whatever someone might be asking, you are not obligated to stop. If someone is in danger that's one thing - someone with bad vibes and big pupils, keep going. Unless its a cop you ALWAYS have the option to JUST KEEP GOING. You don't have to stop for anyone for any reason, as soon as you come to a stop you are a much easier target. JUST KEEP GOING. Stay Safe.
Is the 'State Street Preacher' still active? I remember seeing him all the time. Might need to update his WIKIPEDIA PAGE !!
en.wikipedia.orgBest Fix? Bottom corner of my fav' bike messenger bag. Woven nylon I think. Has an internal lining - would be difficult to sew. ? Tape? Glue? There is another 5 years of life left in this bag other than this. Thank You !!
While I see Ebikes every single day - I have not seen one of those 'Gas Engine Conversion' bikes in a couple years. The Ebikes might have finished them off. No longer a thing?
They used to be a thing, little engine kits that could get put on a bike to motorize it with a small gas powered motor. I have not seen or heard one in a couple years. There are plenty of off the shelf Ebike options that run pretty great and for the cost and reliability it isn't worth the time / effort to motorize an old frame when you can get an ready to ride Ebike solution that you can roll into your apartment and that isn't going to smell the place up.
Just sayin'
Question: Slightly long expire date for volatile stock (SOXL) with CC's that are close to being ITM. Is there anything glaringly wrong in here? TY / Thank You.
SOXL - Current share price is $175 (All numbers rounded)
4 CC's
Date = August 14 (32 days)
Strike = $100
Break Even = $200
Fee = $38k
If assigned I 'lose' upside if share price hits $280 or more. 4CC's (400 shares X price $175) + (fee 38k/400=$100) = $280 per share
$280 was before OpenAI's financials came out revealing ongoing losses. The war is heating up again. I definitely do not think SOXL rises a third from here in the next month. SOXL was only above $280 for about ten days in the last 3 months.
I'll spin this wheel, is there anything I am missing?
I VERY much want to sell 4 CC for SOXL $250 - 186 days out - My long winded logic inside, plz destroy me if you see something wrong with my thinking.
VERY much wanting to sell 4 CCs at $250, 186 days out. I'm fine if it gets called away or not. Fee = 26k. $250 is slightly arbitrary, seems the right mix of strike/time/fee to me.
This is less about % returns than wanting to take some pressure off my life for a while. This is more QOL (quality of life) than ROI (return on investment). I have minimal debt: owe the tax man another 2k + another 1.5k. Could pay all that off tomorrow. Healthy, employed, life is stable.
Take the 26K fee put it in Vanguard Ultra-Short Bond ETF (VUSB) 4.7% or JEPI 8%, making sure I leave 4K in to pay the gains on the CC for next year. If rates go up, which I expect they will, may well go to cash for a bit. VERY tempted by some of the highflying REIT's but will avoid them.
22k / 6 months = 3.5k per month. I am not burned out but I am a tad crispy around the edges and want to dial things back for a bit. This would let me do that. And I don't even think I would spend all that, I might well spend half of that.
If the shares are called away that's fine, I might miss a touch of run up but I can always get back in. That's the #1 thing that gets mentioned, the miss of upside but once the shares are sold/called away I can get back in. I think the crazy run ups of 24/25 is past and the future is far more turbulent.
If they sell maybe I move way downstate and get a microhouse. If they don't sell I rinse and repeat and maybe move downstate and get a microhouse. Can manage the tax gains if they are sold.
186 days is fine. Going 221 days the gains (8% increase in the fee) seems not worth it. 557 days out gives a notable bump but, meh, nearing 2 years. I can handle 6 months fine, almost 2 years? I don't see the value.
SOXL is down at the moment so the #'s above will be off by opening. Both TSMC and ASML report earnings this week so who knows what will happen. Up? Down? Thank you, TLDR but this might mostly just be me thinking through all this.

The Logan Square Park redesign is amazingly good. I get why drivers might not care for it but for bikes and pedestrians I think its great.
Logan Square Park was among my least favorite obstacles. I genuinely did not like traversing it, my path is going north/south from the 606 on Kedzie. One day going north I saw a pair of cars in the roundabout have an accident and the same when I returned going south. After that I stayed on the sidewalks or the path that goes through the middle of the park itself or both.
I still use the right or left most side lanes on Kedzie, and I stick to the paths into and around the circle and what was always a bit of a concern has become EZPZ.
I understand that drivers hate the loss of a straight line Milwaukee avenue through there and the introduction of all sorts of pedestrian safety via cement protections. I get it, the redesign adds time to their commute. It might have pushed a bit more traffic onto the Kennedy. Personally though, I find going through there to be so much more safe and less stressful.
On market days the whole place is great and just north of the park on Kedzie, across from the bus/train station is a protected area that has outdoor seating and on the weekends often has a 'no license needed sell what you have market' that there should be more of.
The redesign has reduced the aspect of it being a 'park' by a bit - the amount of grass has been reduced by 5%? I also think the park has lost some if its residential 'lived-in' sort of vibe. It also gave off a more illicit, harder than THC, inject it or smoke it off tin foil quality that has mostly dissipated.
I get it, the drivers (edit: and some cyclists) hate it. Before it wasn't entirely a park, it felt like a mutated roundabout grafted onto an intersection with a bisected lump of grass growing through it. Before the space was ruled by cars moving at speed and now it has been much tamed and made civilized to bikers and pedestrians and the people living in the area.
Others feel different but I am a huge fan of the redesign. It will take a while but I do wonder how accident numbers and other stats compare before/after.
PEEPS, you can always get off your bike and push it during events.
