Branching Active Duty EOD

I’m currently an Army ROTC cadet and I’m very interested in going Active Duty EOD after commissioning. Based on my ROTC performance so far, I feel like I could have a competitive shot, but I’m a little confused about how the EOD selection/branching process works.
My understanding is that I would initially go through Logistics BOLC before EOD training. Is EOD handled like a branch detail, or is it something I would compete/apply for separately during the ROTC branching process?
For anyone who has recently gone EOD through ROTC, what does the process look like from branching → commissioning → BOLC → EOD school? Is there anything I should be doing during my MS3/MS4 year to make myself more competitive or make sure I’m considered for EOD?

Wife staying with me at MP BOLC?

I’ll be attending MP BOLC at Fort Leonard Wood, and since it’s TDY, I was wondering if my wife would be allowed to stay with me in my hotel room during BOLC. Has anyone done this recently? Would there be any issues with her staying with me for most or all of BOLC?

ROTC Logistics Officer – How much say do you have in your first duty station?

I’ll be commissioning through Army ROTC next year as a Logistics Officer. I’m prior enlisted, but I’m not sure how much input officers actually have on their first duty station.
Hawaii is my top choice, and I’d even be willing to take the extra ADSO if it improves my chances. How realistic is Hawaii for a new LG officer, and what are the most common first duty stations? Any advice from those who’ve been through the process?

Fundraising?

I’m the cadet currently in charge of fundraising for our Army ROTC program, and I’m looking for ideas that have actually worked for other battalions.

We’re a smaller program, so alumni donations aren’t really an option. We’ve done the usual online fundraisers, worked with local businesses, and partnered with the university in the past, but none of those have been especially profitable.
Have any of y’all had success with something a little more outside the box? Whether it was a community event, sponsorships, raffles, corporate partnerships, or anything else, I’d love to hear what worked (or even what didn’t). Thanks in advance!

2013 Tundra Oil Pressure Light

Drove my 2013 tundra with a 5.7 to another state for a vacation. Did an oil change about a month ago. It’s been driving normal since we’ve gotten here and all of a sudden today we’ve had an oil pressure light come on. The truck is no making any sounds and it has been topped off with oil. Any idea what this could be ?

Branch Interviews Army ROTC

I’m going into my junior year of ROTC and will be an MS3 this year. I’m starting to think more seriously about branching and wanted to ask: is it too early to start conducting branch interviews, or is this a good time to start reaching out and learning more about different branches?

I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I also want to be proactive and make sure I’m setting myself up the right way before accessions.

ROTC/SMP Cadet Looking for Insight on Active Duty MP Officer Life

I commission in 2028 and I’m trying to narrow down my branch preferences. I’m an SMP ROTC cadet and have been attached to an MP unit since I enlisted, so MP is something I’m seriously considering.

I’m curious what life is actually like as an active duty officer. What does the day-to-day look like for a new LT and then as you progress? Also, what do promotions typically look like after O-3 if someone plans on making the Army a career?

I’m also interested in duty stations that are common first or second assignments, especially for MP officers.

Lastly, does anyone have more information on the whole MP downsizing/restructuring situation? I’ve heard a lot of different things and would like to get a better understanding from people currently in or who have recently served.

Thanks!

Range finder for land nav

Are there any regulations against using range finders during land nav? Obviously I’d still rely on the skills I was taught, but I was wondering if anyone has had success using one to get more accurate points. Seems like the binocular feature could also be useful for scouting OP 4 during training.
