Is Mizuki op?

I win almost every game on him, and he feels great to play. Chain really counters tons of annoying heros like anran, ball or tracer. He's got great healing (as long as you keep his aura up). His ult is not as bad as people make it out to be imo. His movement is also deceptively good, especially if you plan ahead a bit.

His only weakness (kinda) is flying heros like pharah, but that's just the price you pay for not being a hitscan hero. Chain can still be good in these scenarios tho!

Do you guys find him op?

Being a bass on the plane

So soon I'm going to europe for a trip, and I was wondering if I could bring back a bass if one caught my fancy there.

Would separating the neck from the body and putting them in a suitcase be enough? Do you need to remove the strings?

I would be pretty bummed if I did that and it arrive in more than 2 pieces

**Bringing, I am not planning on becoming a bass lol

How do you cover/write basslines for songs that have no bass?

So usually when I try learning a song by ear, I just find the root note by trial and error and imitate the bassist vaguely.

But recently my friend sent me a song to make a bassline for, but it's basically all piano/synths and drums. How would I go about making something for it?

It's hard for me to even find the root note when I have no bass to reference

Just broke my nut

I broke my nut while trying to replace my strings.. This never happened to me before with guitar. I was trying to get the low B under the string tree, and the nut just shattered.

Is there some kind of trick with basses I don't know about??

Bass output being scratchy

My relatively new Sire Z7 has started making scratch noises when the cable moves around. I tested it on passive mode (to make sure it's not the battery), same thing. I am using a focusrite into the darkglass neural dsp pluggin, if that matters.

I also tried the exact same setup with my yamaha, and it made no noises at all. What should I do about this? The bass is still on warranty but the shop is 60 mins away, so I want to solve this myself if possible..

Can't get bass loud enough without clipping

I have a Focusrite 2i2 (4th gen) and the darkglass neural dsp pluggin, and I love the tones I get out of it. The problem is, the volume in my headphones is never high enough for me to hear myself properly (I use the standalone app to monitor/practice).

If I try and raise the input/output volume in the app or on the focusrite, it starts clipping. I'm not even using any distortion, just the vintage microtubes pedal. My bass is a sire z7, and it has hot pickups to be fair.

I'm pretty new to recording and doing this stuff, so I have no idea what to do.. Any tips? Thanks!

Traveling with a bass and amp

When I'm traveling for work/vacation, I never bring my gear with me which means I lose out on weeks or sometimes months of practice every year. Bringing my bass and amp with me seems dangerous, so I never did it.

What should I do in this situation? Try traveling with my bass and a headphone amp, or just rent out some gear at my destination? I've never rented a bass before, so I'm not sure if it's financially viable.

I feel like my progress is really hindered by these gaps in practice, so I'm looking to change that. Any advice is apreciated, thanks!

Ltt unskippable ads

Anyone else hate how every Riley ad is unskippable??

I am litteraly physically unable to skip or even fastforward his ad segments, this is worse than youtube's baked in ads at this point...

Songs to train my speed

I've been trying to learn Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder, and I'm just not fast enough for the really quick pentatonic runs in the song. What would be something a bit easier I could work on first? I would love a song where the bass is a main instrument as well. Thanks!

Timestamp in the youtube mobile app

Why does clicking the comment section to open the comments take me to random timestamp that HAPPENED to be there when I clicked?? That shit is so annoying, let me open the comment section first goddamn it. Anyone else have this problem??

Advice on upgrading my amp setup

I've been playing on my Traynor dynabass 200 for like a year, and I think I'm due for an upgrade (the tweeter is dead, the amp buzzes a lot and is way too big and heavy for home practice).

So, what should I replace it with? I've been wanting to get a compressor pedal and some distortion, so something that can do both and save me money sounds nice.

Currently I'm torn between the darkglass combo (the 112 microtubes one) and an Hx stomp (possibly lt) that I would hook up to a DI as needed, or to my headphones at home. It might be better to get an pure amp combo and the pedals separatly instead, but I'm not sure.

Ideally, I want something light, flexible and that isn't too boomy (I play on a 5 string, so I really value clear sound). I play everything from metal to mowtown, so I'd like to have the ability to dial in my sound to match what I'm playing.

Any suggestions/recommendations other than those I listed? Thanks!

Is it ok for a first car to be manual transmission?

So for context I got my permit 2 years ago, but I only learned to drive on automatic transmission (also, since I don't own a car, I don't have a lot practice under my belt). With this in mind, I wondered if I would be able to learn how to drive a manual on the go. In my area, there are a few manuals that are a really good deal and fit my needs.

However, I'm scared that adding another challenge on top of my lack of experience might make me more likely to get into an accident. Any advice is welcome, thanks!

How to get consistent dynamics and good ghost notes?

I'm trying to learn Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder, and I noticed my dynamics are all out of wack. It's really hard for me to play notes at a consitent volume (especially when switching strings), and my ghost notes are not really audible, and when I really dig into them they sound bad (kinda metallic). How should I improve these issues?

Video I'm trying to learn from for reference : https://youtu.be/uQpJpQ5KBwE?si=itCYDiAgGtTEa7DS

So I've been playing for bass for a little while (1-2 years), and I've been thinking about joining a band. I'm a bit afraid tho, because I really can't improvise or write anything (I know basic scales and triads and how to read rythm but that's it).

In general, what skillsets do bands require? What should I learn to fit in with real musicians (I really don't feel like one lol)? So far I've just been looking up tabs and learning songs, and looking up tutorials if the technique is something I don't know yet (slap for example). I don't want to be a burden to others when I join a group, but I have no idea what the expectations are. Any advice is helpful, thanks!

I can barely remember this tiny part of the bassline... The song is very bass heavy, not rock or metal, super swingy feel. It's also pretty quick, def not easy to play. I can't recall it at all! The band has disbanded because the singer turned super christian or something like that (the person who showed me this song says anyway).

I know this is a hard ask, but I hope someone cam get it lol, thanks!
