Losing my mind

I work alone, basically, I sit around in the little staff room and have nothing to do unless someone calls to say they need something, or someone comes in late and needs help getting in or something.

After 1am until around 6am I don't typically get anyone needing anything, it's during this period where I am so restless, I don't have an issue of being tired, and trying not to fall asleep. However I have an issue with being very bored due to having no tasks.

I have a room with a sofa, TV with limited streaming services, I bring a laptop and nintendo switch.

I'm allowed to take time outside which I do very often, I like looking at the stars and getting fresh air.

I usually bring a meal to reheat in the microwave at around 1am.

I feel like I've ran out of movies, last night on my 12hr shift I watched; Hoppers, project hail mary (for the seventh time) and tons of family guy.

I love the job don't get me wrong, it was my dream to get paid to do nothing aha, but im losing my mind and time goes by so slow, also the sofa is so uncomfortable, my back hurts so much rn.

Clingy voids?

Does anyone else find their void is so clingy?

Both voids I've owned have been so cuddly and clingy compared to my tuxedos.

Meet Sir Archie!

This is Archie, my bi-color chonk!

He loves naps, churu, annoying my other cat, and meowing loudly at 1am.

Oh! and sky raisins

Advice for grooming my long hair cat

So, I adopted a long hair floofy void. He is very, very floofy. We walk into the vets for checkups, and the first thing that is said is "omg he is so fluffy!" And he is especially around the butt, yk? He has a lot of butt fluff

And it causes some....issues...stinky ones.

Sometimes requiring a rinse in the bath, which he doesn't appreciate, he doesn't hate, he just looks like a depressed drowned rat, poor baby.

He self cleans well but often smells of pee and poop due to his butt fluff.

People with floofy cats, how do you deal with all the floof?

I've looked at doing sanitary grooms, but have you tried getting a kitten to stay still? He is mental. He is not mad about it, but he wants to go play with his bro and not stay still.

So

  1. How do I sanitary groom safely but also doesn't look butchered?

  2. Are there alternatives?

  3. Matts and shed isn't an issue, BUT if anyone has de-shedding brushes that they recommend, please let us know!

  4. Do kittens who think you are playing when you brush them eventually calm? Daily brushing can get a bit...chaotic 😄

Litter box issues with kitten.

We have 3 boxes, but my male kitten (4 months old. booked into be neutered in 1 week) will not use any of them he will only pee in them, he poops just outside the boxes, I've tried moving the boxes, I'll list the litter we have tried, he has had a vet visit and health checks, all healthy, vet has no health concerns.

We have an extra large litter box as the main box that he pees in.

We have a smaller tray.

And we have an enclosed litter box.

He won't poop in them unless I catch him squatting outside the tray and pick him up and put him in it.

He doesn't bury it either. But if I put puppy pads down to protect the floor, he pushes them out the way and then poops

We have tried:

Clay litter

Catsan

Fit litter

Wood pellets

Silica litter

Wood bark kitten safe litter.

Trays are cleaned daily, litter replaces every 2 weeks.

We have the Savic flexi loo cat tray

Savic hooded litter tray with swing door removed as my older cat doesn't know how to use the swing door

And a smaller tray we got meant for training kittens.

He came from an over run living situation with many cats

When I took him in, I was told he is litter trained and was using wood pellets, but I'm not seeing it.

It is driving me insane

What am I doing wrong?

He pees in all the trays, absolutely fine

He doesn't even have to cross paths with our other cat to use the tray because we thought that was part of the issue.

How to get back into normal human routine

I'm on leave for a week.

I worked 12 hours last night,

Tried to stay up all day.

I fell asleep at 6 pm, and now I'm wide awake at 10 pm.

I have a flight to catch at 4 am.

HOW DO I SLEEP LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN??

also, I have no WiFi and really bad signal, so I can't doom scroll youtube shorts or put a movie on.

My 16 week old kitten keeps trying to steal food off my plate, I've tried consistently putting him back on the floor, but he is determined and gets sneaky about it.

How do you teach a cat not to do this?
