What’s your take on paid mods/CC in life sims? Let’s hear both sides

There clearly is no consensus on this so before we get into it we should expect not to agree with everyone. That’s okay, we don’t have to agree. But I would love to hear the arguments for and against from life sim players, what do you think about this whole thing? What do you think will happen in the future?

After following conversations around life sims for the last few days, I present to you: The life sim community meta discourse downward spiral

The life sim community may disagree on a lot of things, but one thing is clear: NOBODY wants an AI slop life sim

The fact that so many people seem to think they can just vibe code a life sim is not only foolish but also disrespectful to this genre’s audience, which is all about details and human touch.

The lack of game literacy in the life sim community is astounding

If one thing has been made clear to me with the release of inZOI and Paralives, is that the vast majority of life sim players have absolutely no clue what goes behind making a video game, and what’s even worse, they can’t be bothered to try to understand.

I’m not expecting the general public to be experts on the subject, but something many other gaming spaces can at the very least comprehend is the concept of early access, which so many people seem to be confused by or ignore altogether when it comes to comparing new games in early access to full releases.

Early access is playing an unfinished game. If your criticism towards the game is that it is unfinished or unoptimized, your criticism is wasted because it is stating the obvious.

I have also noticed this extends to computer hardware literacy, and again, you don’t need to be an expert, but it just never ceases to amaze me just how little the average life sim player seems to know about it.

Am I being dramatic or has anyone else noticed this?
