2017 R1 what tires and tire size for Thailand 90% street 10% track

I was thinking Michelin power 6 and a 190/55 rear for better turn in. Or is it better to go 200/55 or 200/60?

I like the Michelin power 6 as it can rain suddenly so it’s nice to have something with rain grip. I’ll be novice on track so don’t need anything super grippy to start.

Any other tires to consider?

In Thailand it will always be warm/hot and humid.

Thank you!

R1M vs R1 with Ohlins ttx and nix30 what’s the difference?

I rode an R1M and loved the electronic suspension but I see a base model R1 with full Ohlins suspension which is better value for me

I’ve heard track riders prefer manual Ohlins because it’s consistent and predictable but what’s better for a mix of street and track? The R1M electronic suspension or the manual Ohlins dialed into my weight and riding style?

Specific DB killer for this akrapovic exhaust please

It’s the official R1 akrapovic exhaust. What is the specific db killer I need please and can someone give me a link to purchase?

70th anniversary or blue?

I’ve ridden both the blue and the 70th anniversary and I’m really split between them.

The blue is more classic, the 70th anniversary looks cool but also looks like a Lego toy if that makes sense haha.

70th is more attention grabbing but blue feels more like a Yamaha vibe

I’m curious if anyone got one and their taste or opinion changed over time.

Black also looks cool but I want to get some color after owning a blacked out zx6r

Anyway to lower the pegs?

Bike feels great but I’m taller so I want to lower the pegs a touch if possible

If not I could get helibar risers to improve the triangle but I already love the front end feel so I don’t want to play with that so much.

Also considering the gypr clip ons as they’re wider but only a touch higher than stock

I also plan to get some tank grips to make posture a little nicer

No real issues with stock but would be nice to make it a touch more comfortable. Any recommendations of which approach to take?

Thank you

Also I might go for -1/+1 sprockets to get a little more torque later on.

Best aftermarket quickshifter - Woolich racing tools?

Hey I have woolich racing tools qs on my 2017 xsr900 and it shifts smoothly and has launch control which I really like.

Is it the same on the zx6r? I find the stock qs shifts smoothly in the mid rpm but it’s really clunky in the high rpm when you’re pushing it.

What’s everyone’s favorite aftermarket qs for smooth shifts at high rpm? Also can I get launch control without using woolich racing tools?

Thank you!

Yamaha R9, modded ZX6R or Ducati V2S

Hey everyone

I currently have a 2019 zx6r with lots of upgrades, Ohlins rear shock braided lines, brembo master and caliper but a lot of little things. Exhaust and tune etc.

I’ve tried the R9 and the zx6r side by side

R9 has better wind protection - more torque and for me much better sound. Of course better tech too

zx6r feels lighter and easier to throw around which is surprising for me but I don’t much like the sound at high rpm as opposed to most people

I thought I would love the R9 more but I feel like the zx6r is easier to corner and carry speed with confident but that’s maybe because I’ve upgraded the suspension and taken some weight out of the bike (lithium battery, lighter chain and sprockets - full system exhaust etc). Maybe this is also my own rider skill and as I get better I can ride the R9 better?

I wanted to ask if anyone has extensive experience with the zx6r and R9 and which handles better? Maybe if I get the R9 with the suspension adjusted for myself and some other mods it will actually handle better than the zx6r?

I’ve yet to try the Ducati v2 but I’m trying to find a test ride near me. I live in Thailand and the bike will be 90% street riding and 10% on the track, street set up is the priority.

Open to any opinions and thank you!

I’m leaning towards the R9 and I’ve put a deposit down on a 70th anniversary edition because to me it looks beautiful

Love everything but the sound at high rpm, anyone else the same?

Looking for opinions here. I love everything about the zx6r but I don’t like the sound above 8000rpm it just sounds like an angry mosquito that irritates my ears.

Even with ear plugs and putting the stock resonator back on. I just prefer the sound of the R9 much more but I actually like the way the zx6 handles better.

I’m curious if anyone else has the same opinion and decided to live with it or switch out the bike?

Basically I love everything about it and I’ve invested a lot to make it perfect for me but the sound is almost a dealbreaker for me.

I’m considering selling it to buy an R9 but it would involve a lot of cost and time etc. I guess if someone switched from the zx6r to the r9 they wouldn’t be in this group anymore but I see a lot of people have and or are going to.

I have a 2019 zx6r and 2017 xsr900. I plan to either keep both or sell the zx6r and buy an R9 or even sell both for the R9

Thank you
