Lancer X Cowboy Beebop

Would anyone be interested in a homebrew setting that focuses on a smaller scope? With more emphasis on the unknown, and uncertainty of the future, kind of like an alternate sec-com.

In this setting mercenaries live-stream their exploits to make money of the very violence they commit, and a delicate balance of monopoly, and prohibition on violence from UNION continually squeezes their dirty work into the laps of those very mercs. So find a ship, prep your ride, and hope your sponsor likes your moves.

Lets jam.

Kalagann of Ursh, A techno-barbarian warlord to rival the Tarrasque

Kalagann of Ursh is the brutal warlord of a fallen world. He rules an irradiated wasteland living only for his own amusement which is driven solely by seeing what dregs of civilization remain dragged down into the muck with him.

Will your party defeat him? Or will their blood join the soil?

A draft terrain-hazard created by Redcaps in my campaign

In my campaign creatures alter the world where they make there territory, and few do so as much as the terrible Redcaps. These vicious fungal fey create terrible abbatoirs, which slowly bleed their malign influence into the land around them. Should they settle somewhere with thick vegetation the lush flora provide the canvas for their gory displays. In these twisted lands the plants seem to change, growing dense, and thorny, clutching at the corpses strung among their leaves.

CREEPING BLOODVINES

Complexity Complex

Stealth +12 (trained)

Description A copse of seemingly intert brambels about you has subtly shifted and writhed into position to grab at any potential source of blood. As the vines begin to sink into flesh, creatures must react quickly or become another macabe display in this foul land.

Disable DC 18 Athletics to simply break free from your snare; DC 22 Occultism or Religion (trained) to abjure one snare long enough to escape; or DC 25 Thievery (trained) to slip free; each snare must be escaped, or destroyed to disable the haunt

Hardness 10, HP 22 per snare (BT 11); Weaknesses Fire, Poison, Acid 3; Immunities critical hits, object immunities, precision damage

Close Snares (occult) Reaction Trigger A creature approaches within 15 feet; Effect The vines subtly form snares about the ankle of each creature within 30ft. Affected creatures must each attempt a DC 19 Reflex save. The haunt then rolls initiative.

Critical Success The snare fails and the creatures is not snagged.

Success A snare closes about the creatures leg, but it doesn't begin to drain.

Failure A snare closes about the creatures leg and it begins to drain [see Drain Blood below]. The creature is grabbed until it is freed.

Critical Failure As failure, but the creature needs a critical success on its Athletics in order for it to free itself from the snare.

Drain Blood (1-action; manipulate, occult) The bloodvines tighten their grip around each creature they hold. Each snared creature takes 1d6 slashing damage and 2 persistent bleed damage (DC 21 basic Reflex save), and the creature must attempt a DC 18 Fortitude save. On a success, the bloodvines drink deep and grow sluggish, releasing the creature, and on a critical failure, the vines draw a dangerous amount of blood inflicting 1 drained.

Reset The haunt deactivates when all snares are destroyed or all creatures have been free for 1 minute. It resets after 1 hour.

I created Kalagann of Ursh as a Dungeons and Dragons statblock to rival the tarrasque

You guys are getting a sneak preview before I post it to some other subreddits. Do you think he lives up to the legend? Needs a nerf?

Shout out to D_Storyteller_P13 and u/PeterHolland1 for inspiring the idea, and helping me find sources.

Sources on technobarbarians

Hello, I'm writing tarrasque-style monster sheets for the technobarbarian warlords. I need as many sources for specific abilities and wargear as possible. I have access to most texts via a friend, but need to know where to look to avoid reading the entire Black Library.

Thanks in advance.

Medieval Europe Historians: what are the best sources for understanding everyday life in different walks for Germanic/Frankish peoples in the 900-1000s era?

I am hoping to learn more about the details of daily life such as time working, daily wage, nutrition, and hobbies contrasted across peasants of different areas, as well as comparing remote villages, to feudal fiefs, to cities.
