For developers evaluating alternatives after the Maestro shutdown, Nexus supports Cardano and Bitcoin APIs

With Maestro retiring its Developer API on September 18, a lot of teams in the ecosystem are going to be reviewing their infrastructure over the coming weeks.

For anyone comparing providers, Nexus is an API platform providing infrastructure for Cardano and Bitcoin through the same service.

On the Bitcoin side, Nexus currently covers:

  • Blocks
  • Transactions
  • Addresses
  • UTXOs
  • Mempool data
  • Fee estimates
  • Transaction broadcasting
  • Ordinals
  • Runes

The API is REST based, includes an OpenAPI specification, and we provide a TypeScript SDK.

I’m part of the team behind Nexus.

Given the Maestro shutdown, we’re particularly interested in hearing from developers who depend on specific Maestro workflows today. If there are endpoints, data structures, or developer tooling that are especially important to your stack, I’d be happy to discuss them.

GeroWallet's source code is now public

We've published the source code for the GeroWallet browser extension:

https://github.com/Gero-Labs/gerowallet

What's in there

The full extension. Key derivation and encrypted storage, the transaction signing

path, staking, governance and dApp flows, and the whole UI. Multi-chain across

Cardano, Bitcoin, Midnight and Apex Fusion.

Also in the repo: an architecture overview, a contributor guide, a security policy

with private vulnerability reporting enabled, and issue and PR templates.

Build and run instructions are at https://gerowallet.io/docs if you want to run

your own build rather than the store version.

What a lending protocol running on Cardano and Bitcoin taught us about building a data API

We're proud to announce FluidTokens as our design partners on Nexus, our blockchain API for Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin. Here's how that happened.

Last spring, Draper University hosted a Cardano founder residency in Silicon Valley.
20 teams, five weeks, one building. We (A.D. Labs) were one of the teams. So was FluidTokens.

Most of you know them already. They've been building DeFi on Cardano since early 2022, from NFT-collateralized lending to renting and boosted-stake protocols, and then took permissionless lending to Bitcoin L1. Four years on UTxO chains.

Back home, both teams kept running into each other in the Cardano community, and at some point the conversations became work.

Their lending protocol runs on Cardano and Bitcoin, so it hits an API hard, in places you don't expect. Their engineers told us what a DeFi protocol needs from WebSocket streams, and we built it with them. They also moved off several data vendors and onto Nexus alone, which cut their costs.

four endpoints exist because of them (datums by hash, UTxOs and transactions by payment credential, asset holders, UTxOs by policy), and the WebSocket streams grew per-contract event streams with UTxO- and transaction-level events. All of it shipped for every Nexus user, not as custom forks.

That's how we want to keep building Nexus. It's better because a production team pushed on it. If you're building something serious on a UTxO chain

Nexus is officially live: a complete blockchain API for Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin

Hi r/cardano, we're A.D. Labs. After a long early-access period, our blockchain API Nexus is officially live today.

Nexus came out of our own years of building on Cardano: the data layer for UTxO chains has always been scattered across single-purpose services, one for chain queries, another for market data, custom code for everything else. We wanted one place, so we built it. Reliable, redundant, real-time.

What one API key per chain/network gets you (Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin):

Blockchain API: blocks, transactions, addresses, and assets
WebSocket streaming: live blocks and transactions pushed to you, no polling
Transaction building: build and submit on-chain; the builder returns unsigned CBOR, so private keys never leave your app
Market data: prices, pools, and tokens aggregated across all 11 Cardano DEXes, with OHLCV candles and order books
DEX aggregator: best-price swap routing
Wallet analytics: holdings, full transaction history, and FIFO-based profit and loss
MCP server: Nexus data wired straight into AI agents

It's all plain REST plus an OpenAPI 3.1 spec, with a live playground on every endpoint at nexus.gerowallet.io/docs, so you can generate a typed client for your language instead of waiting on an SDK. with health checks routing around anything degraded. That's the "redundant" part: one upstream having a bad day should not take your app down.

Docs and playground: nexus.gerowallet.io/docs
We'll be in the comments answering questions, technical ones especially welcome. If you're building something serious on a UTxO chain and want to talk about what you need from a data layer, that is exactly the conversation we want to have.

And if you've ever used GeroWallet, that's us too, releasing a mobile verison for iOS and the wallet with Bitcoin and Midnight support in the upcoming month.

Hiring - Looking for a Steam capsule artist for my dark fantasy bullet heaven

Solo dev here. My game is Smawverse, a dark fantasy bullet heaven made in UE5. You play Smaw, a stray cat reforged in iron, cutting through undead hordes with weapons that fight on their own. Steam page if you want a feel for the tone: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4640450/Smawverse/

I'm commissioning the capsule art. Painterly, Diablo 2 Resurrected / PoE2 kind of energy, not cartoony. I'll share full art direction and references when we talk.

Budget is negotiable, quote me your rate.

To apply, add me on Discord: hildurian. In your first message send me your portfolio (dark fantasy character work is what I'm looking for), your rate for a full capsule set, and your timeline.

Discord only please, I won't be going through Reddit DMs.

One thing worth knowing up front: the current placeholder art was AI-assisted. This commission replaces it

What if a survivors-like looked like POE and starred a cat knight? My Steam page is finally live!

Smawverse is a dark fantasy bullet heaven, a survivor-like roguelite where your weapons fight for you. You play a stray cat reforged in iron, carving through the undead wreck of a kingdom that fell to its own keeper. Built in Unreal Engine 5.

Currently deep in playtesting with a demo planned for October's Next Fest. One thing I'd genuinely like to know: does the trailer make the pitch obvious, or does it read like something else?

Smawverse - Announcement trailer for my dark fantasy cat-knight survival-like roguelite

Smawverse - Announcement trailer

hi! I've been lurking this sub for a while and finally, im proud to show the game i've been working on to the public.

Smawverse is a dark fantasy bullet heaven, a survivor-like roguelite where your weapons fight for you. You play a stray cat reforged in iron, carving through the undead wreck of a kingdom that fell to its own keeper. Built in Unreal Engine 5.

I drew inspiration from the survival-like genre as well as visual inspirtaion from Path of Exile, Diablo 2, and unlike most survival likes, Smawverse is also rich in lore, the story unfolds throughout the 'campaign'.

- All gameplay code: Claude Code (Since Opus 4.5, and recently Fable) writing C++ in UE 5.7, with UE theres still a ton of manual engine tweaking with blueprints, plugins. i found the existing MCPs to be rather weak (can't upgrade to 5.8 just yet, waiting a little longer)

- Trailer bookend stills: Created concept art using gpt-image-2 and refined (and sometimes redrew) them on an ipad pro + photoshop to upscale some assets and recolor.

art so the character stays consistent. Video gen (Seedance) failed us, static frames with AE moves won. I found that video generation for 3d graphics looks much worse than photorealistic video generations and decided to stick with stills and create a 3d camera in AE instead.

- Music: I'm a musician that plays Tool and Dream Theater so I was able to lock on the scale and some chord progressions with Midi, then used Suno to get the right orchestra feeling, chiores, strings, then measurement-driven mastering (LUFS/spectral analysis, scripted EQ chain) because the raw output was too quiet and dark for a trailer. - The results came much better than any mastering I attempted manually in Ableton.

- Gameplay footage: real capture from the actual build. No AI video.

I have sent the steam page for review this afternoon and will release a demo of Smawverse very soon. Hope you enjoy the trailer

Gero updates: a full Cardano data API, live DeFi market data, and iOS beta

We've been heads-down for a while, so here's what the Gero team has actually shipped recently. Three things, all live, all built on Cardano.

1. Nexus, a full Cardano blockchain data API

Nexus is a complete data API for Cardano. Addresses, transactions, assets, blocks, datums, smart contract state, the data you need to build an app, served over a clean API.

The part we're most proud of is real-time. Getting live data on Cardano has usually meant standing up a webhook server: a public endpoint, signature verification, retries, the whole thing. Nexus does it differently. You open a WebSocket, subscribe to a topic, and get decoded smart-contract events pushed to you in real time: the UTxO phase, the owner, the datum, the amounts.

No webhook server, no indexer to run. We decode against blueprints, so you receive typed, structured events instead of raw CBOR you have to parse yourself. This is the piece we felt Cardano was missing.

Early access: https://nexus.gerowallet.io

2. Market data, see what Nexus powers

To show what the API can do, we built a live Cardano DeFi market data view on top of it: real candles, a real DEX order book, top traders by wallet, and volume with the bots filtered out.

Try it: https://market.gerowallet.io

3. Gero Mobile, now on iOS beta

GeroWallet is now available on iOS via TestFlight (limited seats). Non-custodial, your keys, your funds. You can hold Cardano native tokens, collect NFTs, send/receive, stake and delegate, swap, and track markets in USD or EUR, all backed by the new Nexus engine for market data.

Join the beta: https://testflight.apple.com/join/rM5171Ee

That's the update. We're not slowing down, more coming. Happy to answer anything about how Nexus works under the hood, the decoding pipeline, or the roadmap. AMA in the comments.
