FET Modified Natural - 6K + meds extra?

Hi,

My clinic (Illume in CT) quoted 6K for modified natural Frozen Embryo Transfer, (and that’s not including meds)

I’m self pay, so 6K + probably 1,5K for meds out of pocket is too high for me, and makes FET basically prohibitive.

Did anyone have success negotiating with their clinic to bring FET price down?

What worked?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience.

Niagen?

Anyone did Niagen shots during stims?

Did it help you make euploids, or maybe you had some adverse effects?

Thank you for sharing

FET - Progesterone levels?

Question for those who had FROZEN Embryo Transfer resulting in healthy live birth-

What were your PROGESTERONE levels during FET/implantation window?

I am 45, and have only one embryo, so no room for trial and error. I think my Day 21 blood progesterone is kinda low (7.1, without any supplementation ) , but my doctor also has a tendency of overmedicating.

(My first ER cycle was totally a waste because of too much meds, and I don’t have the luxury to make the same error with FET. Plus my IVF stims changed my follicular phase from usual 12 days to 16, so that adds some complexity, but my RE/nurse are totally oblivious to it and not taking that into consideration at all)

Thank you very much!

Poorly graded embryos - next steps?

I’m on the older side, and after this cycle, we had two Day 6 blasts, but they were graded poorly as 4CC and 3CC.

Do they have a chance to become a healthy baby, or it’s no implantation/miscarriage for sure?

I know it’s subjective, and I‘ve heard an opinion that some beautiful best graded embryos may never implant, while some ugly looking embryos may result in a healthy baby.

What was your experience with 4CC and 3CC?

Thank you.

Should we do ICSI?

Hi,

Question for embryologists or someone with similar experience -

Last cycle we retrieved 6 eggs, all mature, and did ICSI for all (deemed necessary due to sperm motility of 33%).

1 disintegrated during ICSI, the other 4 didnt fertilize/disintegrated next day, and the remaining 1 made it to Day 5 but was going very slow, finally arrested, and got discarded.

Reportedly, my eggs were very fragile and also granular. Granted, I’m 44 F, with 0.6 AMH, and past my egg quality prime time, but

MAYBE WE ARE BETTER OFF WITHOUT ICSI in the next cycle?

If the eggs are so very fragile, why additionally strip them of zona, poke a hole in them, and do all sorts of manipulations which probably would damage the fragile egg more? Also, there is a theory that really it’s the egg that somehow selects the most compatible sperm.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Is 33% sperm motility (vs 40%) so prohibitive that we absolutely must do ICSI on very fragile eggs? Or we are better off without ICSI and with standard fertilization?

Thank you

Did we stim too long?

Need the public wisdom…please…

I’m 44, with 0.6 AMH, and granted, my eggs are past their prime. I’m pretty healthy though without any polips, endo, PCOS, etc. Also, I naturally have a short cycle(24 days) and my LH surge happens on day 10-11 like clockwork.

I just did my first IVF cycle, we primed with estradiol, which shoot my estrogen up. Then did microdose Lupron flair protocol, stimming for 14 days ! , then triggered.
(20 IU Lupron twice daily, 150 menopur + 300 Gonal F in the evenings) . Follicles were in sizes between 18-22 mm when ER.

We got 6 eggs retrieved, all mature, and the nurse was ecstatic that this protocol worked so well and all 6 were mature. ICSI for all 6.

Next day I was told: Out of 6, only 1 actually fertilized and started dividing, 1 disintegrated during ICSI, 1 was not good material at all, and 3 more just didn’t fertilize. All eggs were reportedly very fragile.
OK, I expected attrition, but that’s radical.

A week later I was told by the lab, that the 1 potential baby fighter which fertilized slowed down after day 3, got very slow and basically arrested around day 5.

Something inside me tells me we (1) either had too much meds or (2) stimmed too long and should have retrieved earlier.

My Dr/Nurse are adamant we didn’t!

Who is correct here? If you were in a similar situation, what would you adjust in the next cycle?

Thank you very much for your opinion.

P.S. Also, I personally think I probably ovulated and lost a couple eggs in between the trigger shot and egg retrieval, because I felt my usual ovulation mittleschmerz the night before retrieval, and my last scan couple days prior showed a few more follicles than we retrieved. Is that possible or they all burst out at the same time?
