Best Neon Speeders series so far? I think so!

Don't worry, my eyes stopped hurting between writing the title and writing this 😎 Next time i'll use a black background instead of white so it reflects less light into my retinas.

For anyone curious, I use a cheap 395 nm UV flashlight from Amazon.

Do packages count for Free It Friday? 😋 (7 images)

Out of all Hot Wheels this is my fav casting, mainly because of the two-tone interiors. Theyre constructed with two pieces of plastic instead of just one like in 99.99% of other castings. The bases and bodies of all pre-2014 Testarossas are metal.

There are only a couple more base variations to find and then i'll be done collecting silver Testarossas! From there i'll hunt down any variations i still need of the white, red, yellow, black, etc. Testarossas 🥴🫠

Today I'm reviewing the Jammers "Collector's Display Tower." No one asked for this review, no one wants this review, and certainly no one needs this review, but I'm reviewing it anyway.

There are no dates on the packaging but this clear plastic display case dates to about 1998 if going by the years of the cars used in the pictures. It's made of hard plastic but I'm confident it would crack and break if dropped on the ground. The one i own already has a couple cracks in the rear panel.

The box smells like an antique store, but yours may smell more like a flea market or yardsale. This odor does not affect its performance in any noticable way.

The back panel is attached with 8 simple "L" shaped notches cut into the sides of the case. Side the panel down 1/4 of an inch and lift up to open.

It can stand on its own or be hung up on a wall by a single nail or screw. I especially like how I can stand it on my desk if I want to, with no screws or nails. 4-car cases usually don't have that option.

It comfortably fits any 4 mainline-sized carded vehicles. Despite appearing to have room at the top for a 5th vehicle on a short card, the case is about 1/8th of an inch too small to accommodate one. Sad. It can also be used to hold 5 loose vehicles but you'd have to find a way to keep them from rolling around inside while mounting it on your wall. As such it is impractical for that usage.

These were made by Plano Molding Co. in Plano, Illinois. This company also manufactured the original "jammer" semi-transparent plastic 48-car storage boxes. Plano no longer makes them, but identical storage boxes can now be found under several other brand names such as Creative Options, and the design remains basically unchanged from the originals. So if you hear an old guy refer to those 48-car boxes as "Jammers", now you know why. Unfortunately the company no longer makes display cases or storage boxes of any kind for diecast vehicles, but check them out if you need a new tackle box.

These cost about $20 each on the secondary market but I wouldn't spend more than 10 if I came across another one.

Overall: 7/10. It's great for holding 4 carded vehicles, but nothing more.

I keep seeing posts like that and each time I do I've looked at the person's post history to find zero prior participation in the r/hotwheels subreddit. In other words that "What should I buy?" post is their very first post/comment in the subreddit. So if you see a post like that there is a very high probability they're not a collector. It's someone standing in a store wondering what they can flip for profit.

Sure, sometimes it's a real collector, but usually it's not. Don't fall for it.

After letting the ugly green sharpie ink dry for a few days i applied a coat of black dry erase marker to the whole car and wiped it down with a paper towel. I was surprised with the result, which looked a lot like the final color i wanted. Not perfect, but close. After wiping it down there were some spots of green that were a significantly darker or lighter than the color i wanted, and for those i applied another coat of sharpie in the appropriate color (yellow to make it lighter, green to make it darker). Then i used a dry erase marker on that spot to remove just enoungh ink to blend the spot in.

I'm pleased with the final result. It shows just what sharpies and dry erase markers are capable of creating.
