What are the placement scenarios in cse?

7th semester guys are having placement season. Some of my classmates told me it’s lower than their expections? Even the median and avg is going down this year. Is that true?

Should i join my dad’s business or do prep for MBA?

Okay so hi i m 19(M) Btech cse 2nd year student from a top tier college in gujarat(it’s private not iit). My father is a factory owner and we manufacture plastic. The business roughly generates an income of around 1cr to 1.2cr per annum. I consider myself privileged but idk if i should study mba after my btech or directly join the business? Some say do mba which will help but on the other hand i can learn business in that 2 years which i will waste in Mba. Also i am not very interested in coding/programming. So not considering placement from btech

Fed up with my hometown and want to settle in Ahmedabad

I come from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, and I’m currently pursuing a B.Tech in Ahmedabad. My family runs a manufacturing business, and financially we’re comfortable, so this isn’t really a question about money.
My current plan is to complete my engineering degree, possibly prepare for CAT, pursue an MBA, and eventually settle in Ahmedabad. Because of that, I’ve been thinking a lot about the long-term lifestyle differences between a city like Ahmedabad and a smaller city like Bhavnagar.
One thing I’d like to clarify beforehand: moving the family business to Ahmedabad isn’t really a practical option. Manufacturing businesses aren’t as mobile as service-based businesses. There are existing facilities, employees, supplier networks, logistics, and operational factors tied to the current location. So the question isn’t “why not just move the factory?” but rather whether it makes sense for me personally to build my life in a larger city while the business remains based elsewhere.
Ahmedabad seems to offer more opportunities, better networking, more professional exposure, better restaurants, cafes, entertainment, healthcare, and overall a more fast-paced lifestyle. It feels like a city where there’s always something happening.
At the same time, whenever I’m back in Bhavnagar, I appreciate how convenient life feels. Traffic is manageable, distances are shorter, things are less crowded, and there seems to be less day-to-day stress. Family and community connections also feel stronger.
For people who have moved from a smaller city to a larger one and settled there long-term:
Did your quality of life actually improve?
If career opportunities and finances weren’t major factors, would you still choose a bigger city over a smaller one?
Has anyone here managed a situation where their family’s business was in one city, but they chose to live and build their personal life in another?
I’d especially love to hear from people who grew up in Tier-2/Tier-3 cities and later settled in larger cities. Looking back, was it the right decision?
