I take back everything I said about him, Jarry is actually based
What could this be
I got a bunch of records from my uncle. No labels. No nothing on this one. Seems like a compilation of folk and blues?
Bonus tracks that make an album worse
Back in the 2010s it seemed like every vinyl release came with bonus tracks to incentivise buying the physical copy.
Rated R by Queens of the Stone Age ends with an absurd 6/8 brass ensemble that eventually abandons the theme and becomes total cacophony. It culminates in a sustained, ear-piercing crescendo, and just past the point where you think "I don't think I can take any more of this", when you're not convinced it will EVER end, it hard cuts to complete silence. And then the record is over. The title of the song is "I Think I Lost my Headache" which is what it feels like when it ends.
On the vinyl version (and I think the deluxe CD as well), the hard cut is immediately followed by Ode to Clarissa, which totally ruins the anticlimax effect.
Personally, even in more subtle cases I prefer bonus tracks to come on a separate 7". The beauty of this format is that it encourages you to hear the structure of the entire album, and bonus tracks at the end kind of mess that up.
Is my taste eclectic? Yes. Do I care? Not one but!
Who said, "I play for free, you're paying me to drive here"?
I cannot for the life of me find the progenitor of this phrase.
Edit: It may have actually been a comedian
The power's out since 7am and my building's fire alarm has been beeping the entire time
Is this normal for an apartment building?
At what point must one stop putting fictional/school projects in their portfolio?
I've been at my first full-time design job for several years now and I work in an extremely specific discipline. I haven't had much chance to diversify my work, especially when it comes to applying a single brand across several media (collateral etc). All the examples I have of this are fictional projects from college some six or more years ago. At what point in my career am I just misrepresenting my work at worst, or just looking green at best?
