Added some furniture and poster frames 😬

Posted a couple months ago, but made some key additions. Always a work in progress.

Found my grail.

I've been collecting NES games on and off my entire life. I was born in 1989, so I was too young and jobless to gobble up games in the early 2000s. In high school, I collected some here and there, but fell out of it when I went to college, which would’ve been prime years to find deals.

I started back up around 2015 and made a list of games I wanted to acquire (on the back of a friend’s wedding invitation). I don’t buy online, only locally from shops, FB Marketplace, Craigslist, etc.

Well, today I crossed off the game I was hoping to find the most: Battletoads & Double Dragon – The Ultimate Team. I had Double Dragon II growing up and would rent Battletoads all the time. Eventually, in high school, I bought Double Dragon and Battletoads separately. When I started playing and collecting again in 2015, that was the first time I realized there was even a crossover game.

It finally walked into my local game store, and I’m pumped to finally have it (just not at the $70 price it was going for back in 2015).

For $6, I'll take it. A medium-sized win in 2026.

In short, I primarily collect NES, but if I find N64 or SNES filler, I'll take it too. Someone posted on FB Marketplace these three games and two other commons (I think Ken Griffey and Glover) for $2 a piece, as well as Super Mario World 64 and the two Pokemon games (more expensive but very reasonable).

I saw the post 6 hours after posting, and this was all that was left. The person accepted $5 for the 3 games and said they had a Nintendo box that they would leave on the porch too that I could have. I was thinking it was gonna be some type of game or console cardboard box, but it was one of the N64 game holders which was pretty cool. I already have one double the size from my childhood, but I'll take it for free (left an extra $1). It needs a little cleaning up, but as the title says, for $6 I'll take it.

As most people mention, FB marketplace is filled with resellers and people wildly overpricing their games, so it's nice to find something reasonable, even if it's just N64 filler (but that's three more stickers I get to peel off my sheets haha).

Recently, to keep thrifting interesting, I’ve started trying to track down the matching VHS tapes for various games.

Here are a few pairs I’ve put together so far. I’ve also compiled a list of others where I have either the game or the VHS, or neither.

Thought I’d share to inspire others and help avoid nothing burger thrift store hauls.

Note: The Mission Impossible game is based on the earlier TV show, not the movie, but whatever 😂
