I have never used DIP. For those who have, I'm going to guess it's generally considered an improvement based on how often I see it... Are there any reasons I shouldn't jump on the mod-train since the base game is never getting another update? (As the flair states, this is for UA Dreadnought).

I've been trying to figure out what happened on a game of mine. I've been going around murdering a neighbor like nothing. This is dang early game, my enemy doesn't even have frigates yet. My Arkship is a military Arkship with multiple armor slots filled and a shield slot filled. It has a military power of 2.3k, with a protection fleet of 2.7k. I jump into a system with an enemy fleet power of 1.1k. The moment it arrives in system, on normal speed, the Arkship is immediately defeated.
Like I've read about frigates doing massive damage to Arkships, and assume missiles do too. But this isn't after a couple seconds of weapons fire. The ship had literally just arrived in system and is deleted in a single frame. Do not Fire Weapons, do not Evade Combat.
No mods, most recent version of game... Best idea I have is "bug"? Just seeing if this is known, and if so, is there a known work-around?
Edit: Even more convinced a bug of some kind. I just fought that same fleet with my other military Arkship, same fleet power, same build, same buildings, FEWER jobs of the armor and weapon boosting ones... and I smashed their fleet with Armor still at 75%.
Only difference is we met in the open and fleets moved towards each other (I didn't bother to micro, as I was testing at this point.) Rather than being right there when I jumped in.
Edit 2: Thanks to the direction provided by GracelessOne, it seems I likely had the unfortunate experience of a tier 1 mandible ship involved. You may all ignore this post and move about your day.
First time Tenkara fishing, and using the first fly I have ever tied... Caught my first fish I've ever caught fly fishing. Was a blast, even if the guy was a small one. Totally worth every dollar and then some.
