Questions for my academic planning.
Hi there everyone. I wanted to ask a couple of questions for a research paper I'm working on for a Perspectives World of Work Class. The questions are to gain a perspective of the career for my academic planning. Responses from people with only less than a year in this career and from people with 5 years or more are preferred but any amount of time will also be greatly appreciated. I understand everyone time is valuable so I thank you all for your time and express my deepest gratitude.
- What college courses have been most beneficial to you in your career?
- What additional courses do you wish you had taken?
- What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were still in college?
- What do you wish you had done differently in college?
- What types of extracurricular activities would be beneficial to someone hoping to enter this field?
- What can a new graduate do to distinguish himself/herself to prospective employers in this particular career field?
- What would you do differently if you had the opportunity to “start over” in your career?
- What is involved in a typical day on the job in your career?
- What are some requirements of the job that have been totally unexpected?
- What is required of professionals working in this career in terms of travel, average hours per week, publishing, research, conference attendance, collegiality, professional development, etc.?

rant about ATC
So recently 1 of 3 team leads quit a few weeks ago and so they recently incorporated ATC’s (we didn’t have any before he quit). I’ve only been working here for around 3 months and in a small “meeting” with all the ogp associates, the team lead stated that I and another associate have been appointed as an ATC without me even being talked to about it or made aware of it before hand. There’s significantly more associates that have been here longer than I have so I’m confused on why they would make a mostly new associate an ATC. The other team lead explained to me that they basically “act” like the team lead and ensure things are going smoothly. The thing is what I mostly end up doing is his job without getting paid more, I feel like I have significantly more responsibility that I didn’t ask for. I don’t mind having the role but it’s not motivating enough to do the role when I’m getting paid as a regular associate. they say it’s preparing me to become a team lead but I have no plans in becoming a team lead because I’m pretty sure it requires open availability and I’m in college. I’ll probably end up talking to them more about it but I just wanted to see your guys thoughts and if you guys experienced something similar.
