I just want to keep it secret for now and have no one else to share it with but I just passed the DC phone screen and am being moved forward.

This is huuuge for me! Google is my dream company and my final goal in my career. But at the same time it’s only the beginning.

My new boss is treating me like a horse and pushed me to do something while I was waiting for a VM to shut down, like organise a messy table which was left in a mess by someone else, most likely the boss himself.

Also, whenever we have to rack servers, he moves around very fast and very hectic. He even dropped a server because of that. It wasn’t a big drop but still…

How slow is too slow? FYI I have never been treated this way before. I am very organised, I leave everything in its place, not in a mess like current workplace.

I try to move fast but if I went as fast as him, I think I would injure myself.

Also, I’m a female. I cannot lift as heavy as a man and I can strain my muscles.

One more thing, he’s very athletic. He trains in triathlon. I don’t think most men would be able to keep up with him either.

Plus he sweats a LOT 😅😅 he changes t shirts multiple times a day. That’s how excessive it is.

For those of you who live in places that use stickers for your waste bags, are we allowed to cut them in half and put on smaller bags?

Where I live, it says 30-35l per sticker but I don’t have this much rubbish in a week.

On a collection day, I walked my dog and noticed a 17l bag with a half a sticker on it. I was like, is this allowed and got very excited 😂

Is this allowed?? If so, this would make my life much easier because I only throw my rubbish every fortnight which is not ideal because of the smell.

I have a question regarding the religious tax here in Switzerland. Wasn’t Jesus against the tax men? Does charging such a tax go against Christianity?

I’m just genuinely curious. I’ve recently come to Christ and am learning.

When I go to church, I leave cash. So I’m debating myself if I should start paying the tax now.

It’s not a question of being able to sustain the churches financially or how expensive everything is. Nor am I against it. We need more people to come to Christianity more than ever.

Also, what denominations receive this tax money?

If someone could help me on what the scripture says, I will really appreciate it!

Long story short, my new manager is passive-aggressive. He has gotten visibly angry with me several times for no fault of mine. I’m in the new job for one month only and he expected me to read his mind. During the latest incident, he was cleaning up the place and throwing stuff in a bin bag aggressively.

I’m pretty sure he’s a narcissist (based on a lot of other things that I will not list here.

The issue is, in December, I left a job that had no growth for me. I went to a company that looks good on a paper but they failed to train me and there was a lot of chaos. I quit that job during my probation.

Now, I cannot quit. I don’t think any other employer will hire me seeing my CV. I could leave out the previous job but the field I work in is very small and everyone knows each other.

I’m in a position where I think only moving countries is the only option at this stage. But I’ve already moved many times and I’ve a fixed mortgage to pay.

I really don’t know what to do. Has anyone been in a similar position and managed to get hired still?

My dog got diagnosed with cancer two days ago and the vet put him on palliative care.

I brought him to his favourite forest for a very long walk to process the “news”. He acted so healthy and like fully himself the whole time. Although the vet said only short walks. I thought it was because he had cancer in his hip and couldn’t hold weight on the leg.

Then on our way back home, he couldn’t get out of the car. He couldn’t sleep all night because he was in pain and yesterday I knew it was time. When I went back to the vets, he asked what happened, the day before he was “fine”.

I didn’t tell the vet that I took him on a long walk…
I beat myself for exhausting him with that walk but I rather one normal walk than many slow painful days with no walks.

Hi all. I’m currently in a new job at a Data Centre that I started a month ago BUT Google are hiring technicians in my area and it’s been a dream to get a job at Google eventually.

It just happens that they opened applications yesterday for my area and it doesn’t happen very often.

Also, I just recently got a very good job too but Google is way up there. I started studying IT because I wanted to work for Google one day.

Have you been in a similar position where you have started a new job and applied for a better company right after?

It’s not ok to throw a bin bag on the floor with visible force, right? It wasn’t like he was smacking it with full force but he was visibly annoyed.

Not even going to go in more detail as he’s unpredictable as is. And since this is only a month, can’t imagine what will be later.

I noticed two small plates by our walkway, one with water and the other one with oats.

It’s obviously left by a neighbour (or their kids) to help some wild animals in this weather but I’m wondering what animals? I don’t think it’s meant for birds as it’s left on the ground.

I’ve never seen this to be done in any other country so I assume it’s a Swiss thing? Pardon my ignorance.

I’ve recently have turned back to God (I see it more like being saved) and am completely devoting my life to the commandments as much as I can.

That does come with a price though. I am completely all by myself and my two dogs. My family dynamics are very unhealthy to say the least and because of that, I had the wrong type of friends.

Now, I have been estranged to my family and I have walked away from all my friends. Even my niece with whom I had a somewhat good relationship, has decided to distance herself.

So why did God choose to save me? All my family is pretty much surrounded with darkness but I have been very lucky that God has completely removed me from all of it.

It’s a very difficult situation to be in but at the same time I am VERY blessed!! I really see Gods work in all of this and if I lived a “normal” life, it would be very sinful.

But why me? (In the most grateful possible way)

I currently have an extended warranty on my Mercedes GLC and I have one more year to go. So now I’m thinking if it’s worth getting another warranty once this expires but since I’m living on the border with Germany, will I be able to get it in a German dealership instead?

Or would it be even better to get it at a 3rd party garage in Germany/Switzerland?

I’ll go first: I lost my job in mid April and I only got all my documents submitted on Monday last week. So I haven’t received any payments yet and assuming it will be another while.. Canton Schaffhausen.

What is the expected normal waiting time (excluding penalties)? As soon as all docs have been submitted, how long before the payments start? When to start reaching out if there are delays?

Why are they spamming LinkedIn with so many job posts for so many cities, towns here in Europe. What’s going on there? These ads cost money but I highly doubt that for example in Valmiera, Latvia there are any data centres.
