Asian man, mom questions
I’m a white female in my mid 40’s. I’ve been seeing an Asian man in his late 40’s for about 2 months. He was born in the US. He has never been married and hasn’t really had long term relationships. I like this man a lot. Like down bad. I’m pretty sure he likes me a lot too but he is pretty guarded.
His mother is coming to stay with him for a few months and she has very high standards for who he should be with (career wise, academically, must be Asian etc.) I’m successful in my career but do not meet these requirements.
He has a demanding career and demanding hobbies he makes time for. With his mother coming it doesn’t sound like he will have much time for me (I’m sure he won’t introduce me bc I’m sure I’m not “good enough”). I understand that his mom is obviously a priority and should be. But I’m both hurt that he seemingly won’t be making much making time for me and curious how this mother thing will play out.
I don’t know a lot about the Asian mom dynamic except for what I see in the movies. I guess my question is do I wait this out and see what happens with his mom or is it a lost cause? Do some men, even in their late 40’s, let their mom control their love life? I know he has a mind of his own and I can’t see him calling it quits bc of her opinion, but at the same time I don’t want to be the lowest priority.
