Milk protein allergy?

My baby has been very gassy and has started passing greenish yellow mucusy stools and very watery. He’s been gaining weight like crazy though and doesn’t seem to spit up too often (usually when I’m burping him between and after feedings and if he’s straining a lot to poop). He’s a very noisy breather and often sounds like he needs to clear his throat.

If you eliminated dairy for an allergy, how long did it take to see improvement? How long did you have to stay off dairy? He’s EBF.

How to nurse anywhere??

I’m FTM 3 weeks PP from an unexpected c section, and am having trouble with nursing in public or anywhere but home. How do you all nurse without pillows, and with a nursing cover? I’m still practicing with baby’s latch so not being able to see him while latching him would be hard (not to mention I have a fast letdown which causes him to unlatch constantly).

It’s giving me anxiety around feeding time if we’re ever planning to go somewhere or if we’re already out and about. How do you do it?

Going out

When did you start going out alone with your LO? I’m 2.5 weeks PP and still scared to go out alone. I’m also worried cause the diaper bag is heavier than baby—car seat isn’t but if baby is in the car seat obviously it is. Stroller is also heavier than him. I feel cooped up inside but don’t want to break the rules of not lifting heavier than baby for 6 weeks. I’m also worried about just not being able to handle him outside of my home. Looking for others experiences!

Birth story

Idk how to really write this out coherently but I thought I’d give it a shot. I had a traumatic birth, my first pregnancy and first birth. Pregnancy went very well all things considered, and I was low risk and passed all the tests with flying colors.

My labor began around 9:30 or 10AM on the 21st with a lot of cramping and what I thought was more prodromal labor contractions. I ignored it as I was embarrassed about how many false alarms I’d had and didn’t want to get my hopes or husband’s hopes up (midwife was also saying I was making myself miserable because I wouldn’t do a particular stretch that made it extremely hard for me to breathe. Where my hips are high on the couch and my back on the floor). So I went to bed that evening but kept waking up with contractions throughout the night and tried to keep sleeping.

Eventually I got up around 5AM on the 22nd and took a bath and woke my husband for support. They kept coming and around 9AM my midwife came and did a cervical exam. I was at a 3 and 85 effaced and baby was very low. The cervical exam hurt quite a bit, then extreme pain and horrible cramps. Afterwards my midwife told me she manually stretched my cervix (she didn’t ask during and just told me what she did) and said she got me to a 4. She left and I labored more, went for a few walks. Around 2pm she came again and checked and I was at 5 and she stretched it again without asking to a 6. She left and I labored more. Then around 7PM she came and stayed. But didn’t set up until I was in the pushing stage. Mostly just sat on the couch, and did stuff if hubby asked her to (like bring me some broth from the fridge)

About 8:30PM I was in the pool and started having occasional urges to push. She tried to check me but failed as I was in the pool and it was very painful. I kept pushing and laboring. Baby was stuck, my cervix was swelling, and fast forward to about 1:30AM on the 23rd, we decided to hospital transfer. I was exhausted from pushing and the pain was very intense. They had me doing positions like being on my back with my hips raised, using a birthing stool I kept sliding down on, and I wanted to try hands and knees and did for a bit but they said with his position it wouldn’t help.

So after 5 hours of pushing my husband drove me to the hospital and I had to do a lot of answering questions, they poked my arm a ton (still have massive bruises) and then finally around 2AM we went to the OR (baby heart tones were decelerating and there was meconium present) and I had to sit still for a spinal while actively pushing otherwise they said they’d knock me out and my husband wouldn’t be able to watch the birth either. So I somehow managed to do it, and got relief from the contractions but had bad chest pain and shoulder pain and felt like I couldn’t breathe. Baby was born at 2:21AM on the 23rd and the nurse told me they’d hold him up for me when he was born but they didn’t even though he was crying and had APGAR of 8 and then 9. They took him to do the tests while I was getting stitched up, still not knowing what he looked like. I didn’t get to do golden hour with him which is somethinf I desperately wanted, and barely got to do skin to skin. They put him on me for a few minutes after his tests but I could barely see him since he was so high up on my chest cause the tarp was so close to us.

After being in the hospital for a couple days my SIL went to our house to water the garden and told us the midwives didn’t clean up. The pool and tarps and everything was still there days later.

Midwife told me later that baby was stuck in what she thinks was military presentation and said that’s went she wanted me to do the stretch which felt like she was blaming me.

I am very disappointed with the midwives and how everything happened, and also sad about being scared to do a homebirth again now that it will have to be a VBAC. I have always wanted 6 kids and now am terrified to ever birth anymore.

Did anyone "skip" early labor?

I had on and off contractions for about a week at 38 weeks then would ease up with rest, but were stronger than BH. then a few days of rest and yesterday morning I had immediate strong contractions that were about 1-3 minutes apart, and also cleared my bowels (tmi). But after about 2 hours, a student midwife I'd never met came to check on me since the other midwives were busy and then it completely fizzled out. Now I'm wondering, was that even real labor? and if it was, why didn't I get the 30 minutes apart-20 minutes apart until they're closer and closer and more and more intense? It just went straight to can't walk or talk and need to vocalize and lean over to get through them every 1-3 minutes, lasting 60-90 seconds. Some even had double peaks.

Has anyone ever experienced something like that before? I know there's prodromal labor but everything I watch or read says it's inconsistent and not very painful (you can talk through them and walk around). I'm wondering if labor is still weeks away or if that was the start. Also anyone ever "skip" early labor and go straight to intense labor?

menstrual cramps and Braxton Hicks? Too much?

When I've been on my feet for a while (Whether walking or standing) I'll get my belly tightening up (Which I assume are Braxton Hicks) but then after I'll get a very mild menstrual like cramp? They'll keep coming and going if I keep standing and being on my feet but if I sit down they calm down and eventually go away. I'm 34 almost 35 weeks along and wondering if it's a sign to stop what I'm doing? Would it be bad to push through them? What's the menstrual like cramping called?

I originally picked my current midwife since she has so much experience and was the best pick compared to the other ones that offered care with my insurance. Fast forward I lost my insurance, I am 28 weeks tomorrow. I have been trying to figure out if I like my current midwife enough/feel comfortable with her. She is very old (been practicing since the 80s) and I sometimes feel a bit stressed when she comes over, especially when she touches me. I don't know if it's because of her or me just not feeling comfortable with other people touching me, or maybe her age? She also doesn't really offer any tips on how I can help some symptom (she'll ask how I'm doing, I'll tell her I'm having a hard time sleeping but she doesn't give me ways to help unless I specifically ask, she'll just kinda stare and nod)

I asked a midwife that was highly recommended if she's available to transfer care and she will be out of town the week before I'm due, and then 3 days after I'm due but says if she has cell service she can come back for that one (the latter, an hour away). So there's no guarantee she will be at my birth, but I have a feeling I would really click with her more (I know some of her siblings and love them, but would definitely have an interview before switching)

Would it be dumb to switch if I don't have a huge problem with my current midwife this late? Especially when the other will be gone so close to my due date? Current midwife has a week long trip when I would be 37.5-38.5 weeks. I'm a first time mom. My mom said hers were all pretty much on time, only one (she had 6, 5 pregnancies cause one was twins) was a few days past due
