Just an observation

Why is it that maximum med students at UofT all from McMaster, Queens or western, what’s going on? It’s like 0.1% of students from UofT end up at UofT medschool. What is this pattern 😭 why is everyone from McMaster, Queens and western. Are us uoft students dumber or sth? Is this some sort of skill issue from our part 💀 we can’t even get into our own unis medschool.

Current UofT students and academic decline in life science program

Why are the majority of students nowadays so stupid? I swear, when I got admitted in 2021, the courses were harder. The class averages were much lower too, like 54s in courses such as evolutionary biology. Even I struggled. I wasn’t the smartest person in the room, but I opened the book, studied, and actually put effort in.
Students nowadays just want to pass without studying and expect everything to be handed to them. What is going on? I had this professor back in 2022, and the course was much harder. I’m taking it again now in 2026 because I had a co-op gap year, and I noticed the labs are simplified and the exams are way easier now. People are still complaining nonstop that it’s “so hard.” Meanwhile, I literally heard that the professor and teaching team had to simplify things because students were struggling so much. That’s just a fact.
Can people stop acting like every course is impossible? It’s University of Toronto. What exactly did you expect? You’re a third-year student, not 15 years old. No one is going to hand-feed you. Open the lectures, attend class, read the textbook, and take some accountability for your own grades instead of blaming everyone else.
And yes, I understand some people are genuinely going through things or may have disabilities. I have diagnosed ADHD myself and take medication for it, so I understand that completely. But at some point, there still has to be personal responsibility. I’m not even an exceptionally smart person, and I still found this course easier than before. I studied less, slacked off more, and got the same mark I got years ago when the course was actually difficult.
So when people constantly complain and hate on the professor, it honestly makes no sense to me. A lot of students don’t even open the book, then get offended when someone says the course was easy. I genuinely feel like standards are declining every year, yet people still feel entitled to good grades without putting in the work. The amount of complaining and lack of accountability is honestly insane. I feel like I’m losing IQ interacting with some of y’all at this point. I bet master’s students, TAs, and PhD candidates understand exactly where I’m coming from.

Canadian friendly DO schools that don’t ghost

Hiii I’m Canadian and realized how hard it is to get into med schools in Canada. I don’t have any particular interest in a sub speciality I’m fine with IM. I also don’t understand the stigma or hate towards DO schools tbh I find it very immature. I have talked to some DO residents and they seem to be doing fine albeit maybe matching into competitive specialities is harder. Anyone have a list of Canadian friendly DO schools in USA? I would also love to connect with any current DO students as well as pre meds, study together. I’m very friendly and extroverted ♥️ thanks

Interested in UBC med and dental schools

Hello any current dental or med students in UBC, pls guide me on your application and processes. How does the percentage conversion work? I’m from UofT and a bit confused on the percentage conversions. I’m planning to move to Vancouver and apply as in province after I get health card.

Why is gpa inflation not looked at?

It’s somewhat unfair because my mother was a prof (some psych course) at western n she marked very leniently n gave As to badly written papers or assignments cus students wud perform poorly and would constantly complain at home about students. In my uni if we write something like that we wud get 62% or sth. Which makes me think gpa inflation is a thing, but med school only cares about gpa which doesn’t make sense if some unis r just handing them out easily? Why doesn’t med schools consider an applicants uni in comparison to the toughness of the university’s program because a 3.8 at one uni is much harder to get and more meaningful than another easier uni?

Question regarding my grades is it even worth trying pre med?

I’m a 4 th year at UofT I hv 2 semesters left. Currently sitting at 3.7 but I believe I shud be able to graduate with a 3.73 UofT scale. I know my gpa is low but if I lock in and study for the MCAT and manage a 518-520, do a lot of extra curricular, publish an article, two RA jobs, tutoring, peer mentor, volunteering, than apply in province from Vancouver do I have a somewhat ok chance or nah? Not looking for reassurance I’m looking for quality fees back to feel like it’s worth doing rn and I wouldn’t be wasting my time chasing the impossible.

Is dentistry a dying profession

Hi I’m F 23 thinking of applying dental school. How are dentists enjoying ur lives? Are you happy? Any regrets? What is the job market like?

I don’t go here but planning to apply to the dental program in the future tho. But I was in a dating app once and a graduate from UB dentistry matched me and liked me n we started talking. But he was getting too pushy and asking for pics n stuff, n I said I did not feel comfortable. N he was being rude n when I rejected his advances/ set boundaries he called me ugly and stinky fish girl, and that I shud be lucky he even chose me. Can I report this guy he’s a 30 year old graduate dentist from this uni.

This is actually scary, I’ve seen a guy pretend to be from pharmd at UofT then switched it up to engineering at Waterloo. My friend went out wito h a guy from the app claiming he is a student at UofT but we checked in LinkedIn and it didn’t even say UofT but some university back in his own country. Why do people lie about being from UofT, that’s kinda scary, considering how most of us might match with them based on their uni
