Blender freezes my entire PC (Omen 16 RTX 5070) but games run perfectly — losing my mind
Hi guys, I seriously don’t know what to do anymore.
I have an Omen 16 laptop with an RTX 5070, and since I got it I’ve been having issues specifically with Blender.
At the beginning, I had this weird problem where black lines would appear when moving the mouse in the viewport, and after a while the whole PC would completely freeze (hard freeze, no input at all, forced shutdown).
Someone here suggested disabling the integrated GPU because it might conflict with the dedicated one. I did that, and the black lines disappeared — so that part is fixed.
BUT Blender still randomly freezes my entire PC.
Important details:
- It happens even in viewport, not only during rendering
- It’s completely random (sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes longer)
- When it freezes, the whole system locks (not just Blender)
- Temperatures seem fine
- Drivers are updated
What confuses me is:
When I play games, I NEVER get freezes. Everything runs perfectly stable.
So now I’m stuck wondering:
- Is this a Blender issue?
- GPU drivers?
- Some setting I’m missing?
- Hardware problem?
I really don’t want to send the laptop back AGAIN (it would be the second time), but I also can’t work like this.
If anyone had a similar issue or has ideas on what to check, I’d really appreciate it 🙏
