I'm planning to build a sub250 analog freestyle quad during winter time. Due to the weight limit I'm struggling to choose between 3 and 3.5 inch frame. I wasn't able to find any specific information about the difference between these two sizes. Naturally bigger frame means bigger props, bigger punch and momentum. But how these difference appears in daily flying?

I'm looking for hot air which will not ruined my budget. I know that quality come with price but I'm just tech enthusiast. I'm planning to use hot air for such tasks as USB-C or HDMI replacement or desoldering analogs. As a budget option I found: Fnirsi Sag-55 and AIFEN 858D. Also I heard that atten st-862d is great choice but it is significant more expensive. I'm not planning to use hot air every day. So what would You recommend?

Hi there,

While I was building my first 5 inch quad I made a rookie mistake and I plugged my GPS using a pre-wired connector that had reversed polarity out of the box (5V and GND were swapped). It obviously wasn't showing up in Betaflight. Before I noticed and unplugged it, the module got noticeably hot, but there was no smoke or burning smell at all.

The drone hasn't flown yet, but it connects normally to my radio and Betaflight. It arms correctly and responds to all transmitter inputs without any issues, so the FC seems to be working perfectly fine.

I also checked the voltage on the 5V pads with a multimeter. The pads I could easily reach showed a solid 5V, but at the very end of the GPS cable, I was only getting 4.7V. To make matters worse, while probing around, I think I accidentally caused a brief short near the buzzer pads with my test leads. The drone beeped, LEDs lit up, and it seemed to reboot itself. It still acts completely normal and connects to everything, but I'm a bit paranoid now.

I have a few questions for anyone who has dealt with this:

Is the GPS dead for sure? Is there any chance it survived the reversed polarity, or is it a lost cause?

How can I safely test the GPS? I want to check if it still works without risking a short on my FC.

How to verify the FC? Even though the FC seems fine, what is the best way to make sure the UART and 5V pads are 100% unharmed? And is that 4.7V reading at the end of the cable normal, or a sign of an issue?

Should I be worried about that accidental short? Since the FC rebooted but seems perfectly fine now, could I have caused any hidden damage to the flight controller?
