I got my 38000 rs back after paying for scamsters unacademy UPSC course

I wanted to share how I got my ₹38,000 back after buying an Unacademy UPSC Iconic Pro subscription.

I purchased the course on May 8 expecting quality guidance and mentorship. They scheduled a welcome strategy session with my mentor at 11:30 AM. I waited until 1:45 PM, but the mentor never joined. To make it worse, the session was marked as "Missed by aspirant."

That completely destroyed my trust in the platform. I requested a refund the same day, but they refused, citing their "no refund" policy.

I filed a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline and also raised a chargeback dispute with my credit card issuer. Fortunately, I had email proof where Unacademy admitted they had missed the session and apologized for it.

I submitted all the evidence on May 9. After more than two months, the bank ruled the chargeback in my favor and I got my ₹38,000 back.

If you ever pay for something that is clearly not delivered as promised, don't assume you're out of options. Keep all the evidence and, if you paid by credit card, look into the chargeback process.

F**k you, Unacademy.

Fear of fake GST invoice given by Realestate broker for reimbursement

Urgent advice needed I recently joined a company and as relocation assistance the company refunds the brokerage charges incurred during flat hunting with a cap of 50,000 rupees.

BUT the condition is like we need to submit GST invoice from registered broker , and all brokers I spoke with are not GST registered brokers .

My broker is also not registered and I asked him GST invoice to claim refund ( he said he will issue a gst invoice from a firm ) . He gave me an invoice which looked legit like the company exists , the GST number is valid and active as per gst website and they gave the proper signed , stamped invoice with 18% extra (like the brokerage charge is 30k ,so if I need a gst invoice I need to pay 40k + 18% gst which is 7.2k extra ) and I need to pay the broker through UPI (red flag).

He said I need to pay him and he will pay the firm . Here's where the drama starts . I am damn sure that he and the firm will never file the GST return and most probably will take 50:50 of this 7.2k extra as I paid him through upi and it's not the firm's registered account and no one can trace it. Now my point is that if he never pays GST then the invoice is basically false /invalid . And If I submit it the same invoice can my company find that the firm never paid the invoice and reject my refund ????

Because it looks like they just generated an invoice and gave me so basically they got free 18% money without any sales .

Please help how to proceed or save myselves from this situation ??

Bought a used Toyota Etios Diesel for 2.2 lakhs ,thanks to Gadkari ;)

Finally bought a used Toyota Etios Diesel for 2.2 lakhs , thanks to our sugarcane seller Nithin Ganne-kari . Initially I thought of taking a used petrol , but seeing the pace at which Gannekari is mixing ethanol , I decided to take a diesel car because only a fraction amount of cars are e20 complaint , but most of the cars mafuctured before 2020 are only e 10 compatabile so I don't want a car which fails in 1-2 years . But this car is a like a masterpiece , extremely torqy and smooth 4 cylinder engine and no DPF filter to bother (yeah , f**k the environment , I don't car with the emissions ), also toyota's rock solid reliability a cherry on top .

I got my driving license 2 years back when I was in 2nd year of my btech. I went to driving school where I learnt driving in lord alto (1996 model ) . After driving my friends 2019 dzire I realised I need lot of practice and expereince in driving so I decided to go for a used car .Currently my goal is to use it atleast for 4-5 years .My parents told to sell it after 3 years and buy a new car , may be I can buy a car 3 years later but I will never sell this masterpiece .I will this preserve this 1.4 litre diesel 4 cylinder engine

first bike with first salary

21M , finally my childhood dream came true. I was dreaming for purchasing a bike during my BTech after I turned 18 ,but sadly in my college, students are not allowed to ride bikes. Now that I am completed my college and started working as software engineer , finally I purchased a bike with my first salary.

I decided to go with 125 cc as my main purpose of taking a bike is for basic commutes in city and to office.

I test rode other 125cc's in the segment like raider , pulsar 125 , shine 125, hornet 125.

Pulsar is too heavy and felt underpowered with 125 cc. shine is great for commuting but I was looking for something sporty looks so between raider and xtreme I chose xtreme as I felt xtreme is smoother and I heard too many negatives about tvs service

I made payement for ex showroom price through flipkart which gives instant discount of 5000 on UPI , debit cards etc... and instant 7000 discount on HDFC credit cards

I chose single channel abs as I didn't feel much difference (except for little breaking ) between top model and mid model (which has single channel abs) .

ex showroom price : 97,700 (after discount 92,700)
rto + registration : 16,000 ( Hyderabad has very high road tax and also safety cess of 2000)
insurance : 6,200 (dealer quoted 9k , I took it from policy bazar)
accessories like tire hugger , handle grips , engine safety rod , seat cover , tank cover with bag : 3,000 (dealer said 4,000 negotiated to 3k)
total on road price: 1,18,000

Please share some suggestions for a good , comfortable riding helmet !!!!!

Unacademy denies refund of 37,999 rs, after not delivering what they have promised, says strict no refund policy

Need advice regarding Unacademy refund issue (₹37,999)

So I bought the UPSC Iconic Pro subscription(most premium subscription that exist on that platform) from Unacademy on 8th May for around ₹38k using SBI credit card.

Main reason I even bought it was because they heavily advertise unlimited 1 to 1 mentorship/guidance.

Right after purchasing, I booked a mentorship session for the same day.

I literally waited for more than 2 hours and nobody joined the session. Later when I checked the app, they had marked the session as “completed” even though no mentor ever showed up.

This honestly pissed me off because mentorship was one of the biggest reasons I paid such a huge amount.

Within 24 hours itself I mailed them asking for refund because:

  • promised mentorship service wasn’t provided
  • session was falsely marked completed
  • overall I felt the content/platform wasn’t worth ₹38k at all

But they simply replied saying they have a strict no refund policy.

Now I’ve filed a chargeback/dispute through SBI credit card under “services not as described/not satisfactory”.

I also searched online and found multiple similar complaints against Unacademy and some people even went to consumer court.

At this point I’m ready to fight this legally if needed because ₹38k is not a small amount for me.

Has anyone here dealt with something similar?

  • Did chargeback work?
  • Is consumer court actually effective in cases like this?
  • Any other way to pressure them legally?

Would really appreciate genuine advice.

any lawyer help is highly appreciated ! thanks in advance

Hi JEEtards , I just completed my B.Tech in CSE from one of the top IIT's , I gave JEE Advanced in 2022 and secured a 3xx rank (300-400 ).

Ask me anything about life after 12th , life in college anything that's related to college life and in general.

NOTE : Please don't ask questions related to counselling like "my rank is this , which college should I take ??" , there are much better places where you can get your answers .Also don't ask questions like "How to study , Inorganic chemistry" it's been 4 years and I honestly don't remember much of chemistry ;)

All the best for everyone who qualified for Advanced , and people who didn't qualify for Advance don't be disappointed , life is much more than JEE Advance . I know people with Advance rank 1xx not being placed in final year and also people from tier 3 colleges getting into MNC's like Google , Microsoft etc....

This discussion is just a casual discussion to make you feel that life is more important than JEE .
