i'm sad

i'm currently going into my 2nd-year in college, and it pains me to think that my parents won't see me succeed towards my goal of becoming a doctor. my mom is 71 y/o and my dad is turning 76 this november. by the time i graduate college, they'll be 73 and 79. when i graduate med school, they'll be 77 and 83. when i finish residency, they'll be 81 and 87. it pains me to think every day that there's a good chance that they may not even see me become a physician. moreover, i feel like there's limited time for me to hear their thoughts, perspectives, and lessons on life. i was just crying today because i love my parents so much

is ophthalmology still worth it

in med school right now and currently debating whether I want to pursue ophthalmology or radiology. my med school has a home program for both of these specialties. i absolutely love ophthalmology, but i really hate the fact that the pay is almost equivalent to how much some FM doctors make. i really wish money was never a factor, but it's still one to consider. my goal is to volunteer abroad and provide treatment to those without proper healthcare access in other countries one day, and although radiology is very appealing, i'm not sure if it's very applicable in that realm since it's not very hands-on (if they do exist, please lmk). ophthalmology almost seems like the perfect specialty because the patient population is ideal b/c people value their vision so much so their grateful for your work, the surgeries aren't that dirty compared to specialties like OB/GYN, and the lifestyle is also pretty good. I would like some advice on this decision. obviously both specialties are very competitive, and I'm aware of that.

EMT textbook $45

Hey guys, I took the EMT course at El Camino College last summer, and I found the textbook helpful for my success. Now that I'm done with it, I want to give it to someone else who may need it but can't afford the actual one (if I remember correctly, the actual textbook was almost $300). The textbook is almost brand new and barely has any annotations on it. I'm currently selling it for $45. However, if you feel like you're not able to afford this price range, I'm open to negotiations. Send me a dm if you're interested.

the textbook is care and transportation for the sick and injured 13th edition
