Oatsy is getting Neutered

Hi everyone I haven't been able to post on here as I suddenly lost one of my beloved lovebirds he passed away very suddenly while in the care of my mother so I've been trying to grieve the loss while taking care of my two Rabbits Rein and Oatsy and finally managed to book Oatsy into the vets for his vaccinations and physical examination before his neuter for those who don't know I rescued Oatsy from a neglectful owner Oatsy was extremely underweight so much so that you could feel his entire skeleton when holding him poor little boy was just fluff skin and bones but now he's gained a lot of weight and hasnt stopped with the binkys and the flops lol hes also just learned how to play with his toys after watching rein play with hers which was very sweet to see Oatsy has made so much progress and I'm very proud of how far he's come in such a small amount of time he's had a sudden growth spurt which leaves me to believe he might be crossed with a Flemish giant 😅 oh well at least now he's getting lots of love 💕

The photos shown were taken before his growth spurt the little bugger won't keep still long enough to take a decent photo now xD

🌈🕊️ My little Fluke passed away 🖤🤍💙

A Week and a half ago I lost my baby boy fluke unexpectedly and suddenly I've had him for 3 and half years and he turned 4 in February I was given Fluke from my uncle who was an unethical breeder who didn't care about the birds he had only cared about profit and so my little boy was very inbred but he was a very sweet loving little bird he was mostly quiet but loved singing along to my music and flying around my room When I originally got Fluke he had a sister who I named brumby but she passed away 2 years ago after my aunt infected my lovebirds with a disease that wiped out her entire flock I almost lost Fluke but luckily with a lot of TLC and treatments he got better and then I Introduced him to his Husband Chioki who was his complete opposite but they Bonded very quickly after I had everyone tell me if they were both males they'd fight and kill each other which I knew wasn't true and when they were finally put together after 2 weeks of keeping them separate they became inseparable and spent everyday together never one without the other I truly believe they were soulmates.

Recently I've had to find new living arrangements and wasn't able to bring my birds with me unfortunately since I've had to stay at my sister's place and she has 2 cats so my boys had been living with my mother who has been looking after them like her own children she has a lot of cockatiels that are very loved and looked after so I knew they'd be safe and well looked after with her well last week my mum came to visit me and told me to sit down at first I was confused and sat down she took a deep breath and said "Unfortunately Fluke passed away" at first I was shocked and didn't know how to react and simply asked what happened before I started sobbing she told me she didn't know what happened that Tuesday he was completely fine he was eating, drinking, flying around the house with Chioki Playing everything normal then Wednesday morning she went to feed them and she found fluke laying at the bottom of the cage with his eyes closed and body stiff as Chioki was preening his face she let Chioki have his moment with fluke to say goodbye and she cried then she told me that Chioki didn't leave his side all day until 4pm when chioki finally went back to the top of the cage and she took fluke wrapped him in one of my shirts and buried him unfortunately I live in a rural area with no exotic vets I tried to take fluke to the vets when he got sick 2 years before but they laughed at me thinking I was joking so I wasn't able to get an autopsy done on fluke unfortunately.

I'm completely heartbroken and shattered he was my baby boy and had been for the past 3 and half years he was a very good little boy never got into trouble unlike chioki who loved chewing everything luckily Chioki is doing ok he's being closely monitored by my mother he's still eating and drinking but he's very sad and confused I sent her a voice message for him and she plays it everyday for him and he sits and listens to it then chirps he wouldn't leave the cage for a while when usually he'd be the first one out but luckily he came out a few days ago to fly around the house he isn't alone he has the company of my mother as well as her two cockatiels Billie and Peppi obviously in separate cages but he loves talking to them.

Rest in Peace Fluke 🖤🤍💙

Outside time with Rein and Oatsy

Took the bunnies outside to have some outside time while the weather is nice Rein did not approve of the damp ground and would not move from her spot Oatsy however wouldn't stand still to take more photos xD

Had to bring them out separately since Oatsy is not yet neutered (will be soon) while Rein is Spayed I don't want him constantly harassing the poor girl 😭💕

Day at the park

Life's been a bit too much right now and stressful so Rein and I went to the park for a bit so she could run around safe to say she wasn't a big fan didn't realise the ground was damp but she still got to enjoy some sunshine while the weather's nice Oatsy had to stay home since he's still a little boy but he's doing great and is starting to put on some much needed weight :D

Yeah Reins not happy about her new roommate but poor little oats was in worst condition then I thought he's extremely skinny and his nails were what you could only compare with Freddy Krueger luckily his teeth seem to be ok poor little guy just wants to be coddled and held :(

Rein's getting a new surprise

So update on Rein first she's fully recovered from her surgery I think I've mentioned in previous posts but even better SHES FINALLY ✨ LITTER TRAINED ✨ it took her a while but now she's finally understood the litter isn't where she sleeps thank you everyone who gave me feedback on how to get her potty trained it really helped since she's been spayed her behaviour has improved she's not as destructive as she once was and is alot nicer now she's still her just not hormonal her anymore which I'm so glad about.

I've been thinking about getting Rein a companion for a little while now but decided against it until her behaviour improved and if the right bunny came along well seems the universe has decided for me my partner messaged me today and asked if I was still interested in getting Rein a friend I asked them why and they told me their brother has a 7 month old bunny that's been neglected and needs a new home otherwise he'll most likely be dumped or neglected more so now my partners coming around on Sunday to drop off Reins new little brother luckily I have a temporary set up ready to go encase of emergencies like this Reins been around rabbits all her life so I'm hoping their introduction will go smoothly reins a pretty nice rabbit overall but of course I'll take the proper precautions and ensure no bunny is harmed when introducing them my partner has informed me the 7 month old bunny is a little Mini lop boy who's super friendly and sweet I'm not 100% sure if he truly is a mini lop judging by the photos they sent me but Rein and I can't wait to meet him on Sunday regardless :) and my partner says his Name is Oats I'm not a big fan of the name but they like it so I guess I'll call him Oatsy 💕

So how's everyone's shedding season going?

My bunny has decided in the middle of winter is the perfect time to start shedding for her summer coat and this is how I'm reminded I'm allergic to rabbit to fur ;-;

Chewing cords advice

Hi everyone so first update Rein is all healed up from her surgery and her fur is starting to grow back we've even started doing some training which she has picked up on quickly but since her spay she's started chewing on everything she can get her teeth in especially cords I give her plenty of natural stuff to chew on and I even give her boxes as well for her to chew on and she does but I can't seem to break her out of the habit of chewing on my cords, is there a way I can discourage this behaviour it's only recently she's developed this behaviour and I'm worried she's going to get herself electrocuted I had my two lovebirds chewing on my LEDs so I put plastic over the cords to stop them and it worked for them but it doesn't work with rein she just finds a way to remove the plastic to chew on the cord itself my sister tells me to give her a smack like a dog and I told her that would be like smacking my child and it's proven that it doesn't work just builds mistrust I know positive reinforcement is the only way to get through to a bunny but I don't know what else to try so far my methods haven't worked she's a very clever little girl and finds ways to get into places even when I block off where she's not allowed to go she finds a way around it I swear she was a cat in her past life any advice would be much appreciated I feel like I've tried everything but nothing seems to work so far :(
