Is this amount of play normal?
Sorry for the slight blur, I had a friend take the video. And i know its probably fine it functions correctly and I'm probably just being an idiot. But It bugs me a bit.

So I'm putting together a parts list for a 723 build. I'm using an H&R stripped COTS lower and an H&R stripped C7 upper as my base. However on Barrel profile, I understand that 723s had both pencil barrels and thicker A2 maybe M4 like barrels? I'm a bit confused on which one of the heavy barrels it used. I'm more leaning for pencil, because I like the look and its lighter. However I would like you fine people's opinion on what profile would work best with a C7 upper.
Edit: Anyone know of any gray delta rings that will work for this build? If not I'll just get the H&R ones.
I'm getting an H&R gray 733 upper. Does anyone know of any other gray lowers that are are marked correct or semi correct? I don't want an H&R one because it will have the company symbol stamped on the side. And it bugs me since H&R never produced 733s only M16A1s. (Which is why I chose the M16A1 when i wanted a retro M16 build from them. And also its my favorite M16 variant.) And furthermore, is there a place where I can find colt police lowers that will fit the bill? I'd prefer repro, and will probably go that route but I'd just like to look.
Manufactured in 1901. This is my grandparents, I'm afraid I don't know much about SAA. So I thought I'd share this interesting piece, and get some information from those with more knowledge.
Is this hole on the rear of the bayonet lug a sling mount? I don't want to mount it on the magazine cap because I can't use the bayonet. If it is a sling mount can someone tell me the parts I'll need to be able to mount a sling there?
I'm sorry if this seems like a dumb question with an obvious answer. But I'm not familiar with this firearm at all. I just got it a month ago, I haven't even shot it yet.
Further pictures, Reddit only allows 20, there was a lot.
Lot of excellent firearms, and other historical military artifacts. Sadly I was informed that their weapons exhibit was closed for renovation. However they still had quite a few out on display elsewhere, and I thought I'd share some photos i took. Sorry if any are poorly taken, I am not a photographer and I suck at pictures.
Edit: Hillsboro, not Hillsborough, apologies I should know better.
I believe its the NATO, correct? I'd like to make sure for future reference. So I don't buy one that doesn't accept ar mags. Because that'd make me very sad i have a lot of pmags.
Sorry if this is either frequently asked or a very dumb question. (Which it is)
Probably a really dumb question, but is there any place to mount a sling on my Mossberg 590 Retrograde, besides the end of the magazine tube? I thought there was a second mounting point on the bayonet lug, but I don't see one.
I have the 590 Retrograde 20 inch.
Hello, I'm the fucktard who asked you lovely people if this is rust on my Nagant M1895. I deleted my post out of the shame and from being mocked. Which is fair in my opinion, I'm not mad about it.After closer inspection and some common sense, I realized it was rust. So I immediately went after it using a bronze brush. I'm going to have to field strip it and scrub it, because there is probably more rust that I cannot get to.
And now for another dumb question I'll probably get made fun of for asking. I already know the answer to this, but is there any way I can be delicate enough, or are there any tactics to not damage the bluing while scrubbing the rust off? This is a very nice example, besides the rust, I want to keep it that way.
Sorry about the first two pictures I had my flash on.
Strange question, but I'm generally curious. As a young man that just got into this hobby about 2 years ago. I'd like to ponder the question what do you think this hobby will look like in 30, 40, or even 50 years from now? I understand that firearms can last centuries if well taken care of. And rifles at that point will still be available. However the pool is drying up so to speak. I.E the cmp is using reclaimed recivers at this point and they are currently starting to make reproduction Garands. Will we ever see the mythical Korean Carbines and Garands? In addition imports as i understand have practically gone away. And another question that came to mind that all recent military rifles are select fire. Like the m14 and m16 etc. So it would be impossible or unlikely that these will be sold to us even if the CMP or someone else were to make them permanently semi auto.
Final closing on my ramblings what will be the future? Parts kits? Reproduction firearms?
Sorry for the paragraph, just a thought provoking question I wanted to share.
TLDR
What is the future of milsurp? Is it parts kits? Reproduction firearms? Some miracle that the ATF would allow the CMP to convert full autos to semi auto to make them available to civilians?
Basically I had an idea to buy a modern production Remington 870, and try to clone it into a Vietnam War combat shotgun. As they used 870s during the war. Has anyone on here done that? And what parts would i need?
I understand they have switched to reclaimed recivers. But are there still rifles that are under 1k? I thought they are still doing the same grades but with just reclaimed recivers from drill rifles, correct?
I'm rather torn on this and I'd like some advice. Should I get a Finnish M39 or an M1 Garand from the CMP. I like both, i have a little bit of 7.62x54R on hand, but no 30-06. I'd like some advice.
I'm a bit confused, I understand that m39s will not be matching due to the fact that these are arsenal rebuilt. If someone more knowledgeable could educate me on the numbers on this rifle, that would be very helpful. And also I'd like an opinion on this bore, thank you.
Hi, I'm planning on getting a Finnish M39 at some point in the near future. Most of my 7.62x54R is corrosive surplus, and the rest of it is steel case. I know you should pour boiling water down the barrel and chamber. And then let it dry and then clean it as normal. And also disassemble the bolt and submerge it in boiling water for a minute then let it dry and do clean it normally. Is there any other parts I need to put boiling water on or submerge? Like the magazine floorplate and housing? I figured since it probably comes into contact with the salts.

I also heard about Ballistol "moose milk" mixing Ballistol and water 50/50, does that work? I'm sorry for the paragraph, but I am inexperienced and I have never worked with corrosive ammunition.
If anyone could give me a fool proof strategy that they use, that would be much appreciated. Also is there a best way to dry it? Like a blow dryer, or just let it sit?
Hi, some of you have probably seen my other posts. And I'd like to subject you good people to another dumbass question. I took inventory of my 7.62x54R and most of it is corrosive surplus. As I understand to prevent it from damaging my firearm, (a Finnish M39 more specifically). I should take the bolt apart submerge it in boiling water and pour boiling water down the barrel and then just clean it normally. Is this a good process?

Also the stuff that isn't corrosive is mostly steel cased. I heard that the M39 can have issues with steel case, Is it to any point where is should avoid shooting the steel case ammo?

Sorry I worry too much.
Hi, I'm looking into buying a Finnish M39. From what i understand it can shoot just normal off the shelf 7.62×54R, however some Finnish mosins cannot as they take the Finnish version of the cartridge, which is smaller? I'm also confused on that. Can someone educate me or point me to a good reference? Because I don't want my future rifle blowing up in my face.
Sorry for my ignorance.
Any good places to buy these rifles? Ive seen some on Gunbroker, Gun.com and guns international. I'm also going to ask are these websites a good place to buy one? I don't want to get scammed.
Ive been looking at some Finnish mosins recently. Some of you might have seen my other post. Anyways, I know from the description and just reading the reciver that its an imperial Russian M91 made in 1915, however I would like to know which parts are Finnish made (if any) and most specifically the barrel.
Thank you to anyone who replies.
I just noticed that the quality of the pictures is kind of shit. So I don't expect that anyone will be able to read them well. I'll try to go there in person and look at it. For now, if anyone would give me some pointers on what to look for that would be very helpful.
