>!This word is suppose to be "EACH" but what is suppose to be "C" (marked a red dot below it). It is missing an ' in the upper right. I think most people would figure it out, as EAMH is not a word, and the bottom part of M is longer than the text image which it being shorter matches C more, but the ' is missing. Didn't know where to point it out for the dev.!<

Other Competition

Discussion

I want to first start out saying I am a Modretro fan, no worries. And for people wanting to avoid reading all my jabbering, the main question is, why is Evercade not really considered a significant competitor like Analog often is in discussions? I feel like Evercade is becoming more relevant or robust.

Most of the time, when people talk about possible direct competition to Modretro, it is usually Analog that is brought up, whether the Pocket, or most recent talk.. Analog 3D.

While I do believe the Chromatic is hands down better than the Pocket for myself for what I was looking for in a handheld, I don't know what the competitive weights are on the M64. M64 and the Analog 3D are both new and in my mind still developing into the vision the developers for them have. Even so, Modretro definitely has an edge (in my opinion anyway) with having a game store of both new and classic titles and putting forth effort into trying to keep titles available in store, avoiding fomo tactics, which is great for people jumping in "late" into building thier own cartridge collection. Modretro also sells within Gamestop, not just online but brick and mortar.

Maybe I live in a bit of a bubble, but I haven't really heard much about Evercade really being considered a significant competitor like Analog. Why is that?

I have been well aware of Evercade existing for a while. They had/have the TV console, physical carts, and about to be 2 handheld options. It also seems like they are starting to push out more carts that have just 2 or 3 games on them rather than just arcade collections or various smaller games as a collection on a cart. Even some Indie games are going though Evercade. While I don't have interest in hopping on the Evercade train, I have to admit, if I didn't know Modretro existed or if it didn't exist, I probably would consider getting an Evercade Nexus Banjo Kazzoie Bundle and picking up a few cartridges that has one or two titles per cart. It would be a very hard choice even with Modretro existing if I had kids as the carts can be used on their Super Pocket (good for young kids no doubt), Nexus, or their TV console (good for family/friends multi player or multiple kid house). While I think they are UK based and could be a concern long term with the tarrif stuff as an American, they do have multiple store options both online and brick and mortar, big ones such as Amazon, Gamestop, Best Buy, and I guess most recently, Target. However I don't think you can order on Evercade's site directly like you can with Modretro.

Anyway, it was just something I wanted to ask.

--

On another thought, has Modretro expressed any interest in getting more Modretro games into Gamestop?

Or what I think is more preferable, has Modretro expressed interest in simply getting some games into other brick and mortar stores? Maybe the games are different than what is in Gamestop. Stock getting in, even just one chromatic and a few games is more eyes, which brings more awareness and can be boosted with posters or cardboard. If not permanently, simply doing a holiday stand in a different store other than Gamestop would be beneficial and could even be a good trial run really.

I would ask about Amazon, but I feel like more people feel turned off by Amazon about some changes they are implementing.. and idk how Modretro would feel about using a vender that is subscription based tbh, it may not be a good choice even if alot of people do have prime. Modretro has thier own online store, and it is best keeping that at the forefront for online shoppers.. impo.

Qus: I've heard of Evercade..

I have heard of them a while ago, but I don't follow the company closely.

How easy do you feel it is to buy or find the cartridges?

Do they sell out fast? Is there a bot/reseller problem?

Is there any effort on the company's part to try to make older stock available? (Like if someone hops on the wagon now, can they find some of the first cartridges?)

Are there pre-orders from the company or do you always have to buy ir preorder through a middle man?

Tetris 🎶 🎧 🎶

We have 3 music options already, but I was wondering if anyone else out there also would like to see other music added? :3

Tetris isn't sold in box yet, so adding another song or two to it wouldn't be too crazy?

Would love to see more of Phantom Flash?

I found Phantom Flash on itch and loved what I saw. It is fun and quirky and gives alot of wario vibes.

Does anyone know if the developer is working on adding to it at all by chance? :3

Hermano

Has anyone heard if the developer plans to add a password save system to this game in an update sometime?

I love this game, but I never have time to play through it to the end because I only have a few minutes to game at a time before something interrupts and having a password save system would just in general be really helpful..

Online orders

Do online ordered build a bears always feel really stuffed/stiff?

I don't have a bab myself, but I ordered one for my niece during a sale. It arrived today but it just feels really firm and stiff. Didn't know if that was normal, but it makes me not want to reconsider ordering prestuffed in the future for myself even though i live far away from a store or if my niece doesn't like it and is fine with skins in the future. So I wanted to hear others' experience about online orders and prestuffing.

Incase it matters, it is a cinnamoroll licensed character.
Everything else seemed fine with the order/process though. The fur is really nice and tye stitching doesn't seem stressed.

Do you think bab will continue the keychains?

How well do you think they are selling?

Do you think they will keep them around or lower thier standard price tag?

Have you picked one up? Any interest you?

What price would they need to be before you'd consider getting one?

Have there been any new keychain leaks?

Stuffing?

How firm are palm pals? Like some of the really round ones look like they may have more stuffing than some of the others? I know looks can be deceiving.

These things are pretty cute. I am sad to see some already discontinued while looking online. The caramel apple one for example, which looks like it could be popular, or the snail which.. i don't know how many people actually like snails... but I loove snails.

Gravel only substrate, stinky

I had tried aquariums with just gravel and some with just sand. I don't get gross smells with sand, but I do with gravel. Poo isn't as visible on top of gravel as it is on top of sand. I do substrate 2 inches deep. Sometimes more with sand. I do live plants.

So far I prefer sand, but for the gravel people, how do you deal with the smell? How to do you keep it away? Am I missing something?

I was thinking about doing a mix of gravel and sand and see if that gives the best of both worlds of making poo less noticable on the surface until it works its way into the sand, while also keeping the smell away that I find with just gravel, but does anyone experience smells with gravel and an undergravel filter?

Fruit Bears

Just something I was thinking about and decided to share it here if anyone likes thinking of things like this.

So, one of my favorite autumn flavors is apple. While it may sound ugly at first on paper, bare with me.

What if a bear was made that had green and brown swirled fur, had little red apples on its feet and ears as a printed fabric or maybe a red apple on its belly instead, similar to a care bear if not an issue. People can have a caramel apple scent in it if they'd like.

Other bears that would be nice is

orange creamsicle: pastel orange and off white swirled fur with an orange slice

Lemon blueberry: off white with pale yellow and light indigo swirled fur with a couple of blueberries

Strawberry and cream: off white and pink swirled fur with a strawberry and it's blossom

I think these would be a nice addition to the bears made after cookies and the vintage ones after ice cream.

Future Licensed Characters

I know Saniro BABs are super popular. There are also Pokémon, Mushroom Kingdom, Harry Potter, and Starwars BABs. I think i remember seeing something in the past with Animal Crossing, and there is currently Peter Rabbit available which is super cute.

I am not sure of all the licensed BABs there have been, but I am curious to hear if there are any licensed BAB wishes?

Something from a show, anime, book, or video game you love? (or loved/memorable in the past)

Price of Build a Bears

How do you feel about the normal price of standard size Build a Bears (non licensed)?

What do you feel is a fair price for them?

If it wasn't for the $15 sales that have happened, do you think you would have bought any at all or this year?

--

For licensed bears, I'd imagine that's more complex because they are a collab, and are not fully decided by build a bear themselves. How do you feel about those prices? Do you seek out other sellers, like the pokemon store, over build a bear?

Chromatic games

Doesn't modretro add more chromatic games near the beginning of the month?

Was the last time they added games in Feburary? Do you think more will be added toward the end of July around the M64 release or should expectations be closer to the holidays?

Just curious

Can anything be done about preventing more carvings at Mt Rushmore?

What prompted me to ask: https://www.themirror.com/news/us-news/donald-trump-mount-rushmore-dream-1922687

My post isn't about what kind of image, but rather can the Black Hills/Mt Rushmore just be left alone and not add more carvings and stuff? Is there anything local tribes can say on such a matter? The article says Congress and the Park has a say in it being messed with or not. Is Congress required to hear from Local tribes about the matter if they request to speak?

(Also, I tried to add more than one flair, I don't think I can)

Never modded

I never modded a game before. I was recommended by someone to look at nexus mods for stardew since the lack of ducks really bothers me in stardew. I love ducks. And more dinosaurs would be nice too.

I found Em's Farm Animals and really like what I see there. From my understanding, Livestock Bazzaar is also needed for that mod to work because of menu changes for Marnie's shop? is this right?

I also like Elle's Dirt and Cliff recolor. So I am open to throwing a few other mods on if I am going to bother with Em's Farm Animals. Surely it exists, but more npcs would be nice that are also dateble. I have seen comments scrolling around in this subreddit about a mod that allows you to see the location of npcs in the overworld which I think would be immensely helpful and help me actually interact with them more often. I'd imagine that may limit new npc mods since those would need to be compatible to work? or maybe its bundled?

I see that there are mod packs for people to apply, and I also kind of wonder how someone is suppose to know what mods are compatible with each other?? How do you get started without feeling overwhelmed as a newbie? I don't really want to grab a pack to use, because I don't want to be swamped in content, and I don't know exactly what all mods I'd like to apply yet and need to look more to even see what is all out there.

I am playing on the Steam Deck through the steam os. (Linux operating system) not sure if that makes a huge difference compared to desktop.

Hearts

How come bab doesn't sell hearts online? Maybe you want a few for a baby shower for family to write messages or names on to put in a bear.
