Re: Raw cat food, advice pls! My cat started vomiting after a week

Hi all!

My 1yr old cat started vomiting 1.5 hours after each meal after tolerating a new raw diet for a week. This was his first time eating raw.

Has anyone else experienced this and was able to successfully transition back to raw later on?

For context:

I got my cat 2 months ago. I switched him to a raw diet (started w/Viva Raw - chicken, rabbit) and he loved it!

Admittedly, I did not do a transition period, which I see how was likely a mistake 🤦

To rule out a serious issue, my vet did X-rays, twice, there was no blockage. So there's that. And he has no clue about nutrition, sadly.

I just switched him back to canned wet food to let his stomach rest, and surprise surprise....no vomiting.

I believe raw would be best for him but now I'm afraid I messed it up.

Any1 have experience with their cat infected with Cryptosporidium felis?

My new 11 month old kitty was just tested positive for this. I had him tested bc he started having diarrhea for 5+ days.

I had him for 4 weeks at that point and right before his symptoms started I got a litter box from a neighbor, and now realize it may have come from that ☹️.

If you have experience with this, how was your kitty treated and then how did you disinfect your house after/during treatment? 🙏

Any recommendations for a simple, sticky background cover? The ocean one I have doesn't stick flush and is wrinkled.

Is CO2 worth a try to grow plants bigger??

I have these 2 tanks, the 10g on the left and 55g on the right. Feeling like a change is due and I'm wondering if it's worth trying adding CO2.

Is it messy, expensive, complicated?

There is about 3 inches of space between each tank and the wall, would I be able to fit the supplies there?

I've not been able to get ANY of my plants big enough to the way I imagined them when I started this hobby over 3 years ago, maybe CO2 could help?

Well, the one Crinum is doing well in the big tank, but that's all.

Attracting a younger crowd - a vent for processing.

NO ADVICE please! Just a venting post, looking for non-advice feedback or similar experiences or pointing out something obvious I'm not seeing.

(41F)

I've lately gotten wind to go out and socialize in the big city (NYC), and seems everywhere I go, I attract a younger man crowd, like 25-33.

For context, I look younger than my age, am petite-sized, and been told I'm "cute", repeatedly.

Yes, that's quite encouraging and ego-boosting. It also makes me realize I haven't really been going out in places people ACTUALLY socialize with strangers for the fun of it! 🤦

But the downside is that it feels challenging to keep saying no to everyone who looks too young, and with whom I can't possibly have a mature relationship with another "seasoned" human, which is what I'm looking for.

Anyone else encounter this conundrum?

Or is this just a simple case of guys of ANY age wanting a shot with a pretty lady and I need to be more selective where I go out??

I don't understand why a 25 year old would want anything to do with me.

UPDATE: Thank you all for your thoughtful comments!

Reading through these I'm seeing that I was likely choosing the wrong spots to meet relationship-ready, 40+ men. And I learned that some young men want older women for various reasons, which are not for me.

And perhaps I do look my age, and I'm perfectly content with that. Need to filter better.

I, 41F, have been in a relationship with dating apps on and off for over 5 years. No surprise.

Would decent guys find early questions about family planning and life plans untactful?

I want to know right away if they want or don't want kids, if they have a career, and if they plan to stay in the city or dream of being in nature when closer to retirement, etc.

Honestly, I'm not interested in flirting or being funny and clever until I know we are minimally compatible, I have no energy for this.

Thoughts?

I can't believe I haven't noticed this in all the reruns I've watched 🤣

Also, why is Lorna Lonely suddenly being called Lana here??
