What is the job market like right now? Hi all, career Nanny here, been in the industry for about seven years and hoping for some insight as this is a new situation for me. I have been with my current family for about five years, there was a period of six months where I wasn’t working for them, but the last three years I have been with them full-time.

Long story, short, a couple years ago they got a new summer house that is in the middle of nowhere, and I’ve had some bad experiences There, that were not their fault, but overall it’s rough and they know I hate it out there. It’s also very expensive and they’re not covering the cost of food, which is significantly higher because it’s in a food desert.

, as I have already used my 10 paid vacation days, I was hoping to ask for some unpaid time off that lineup with the weeks that they will be at their summer house. I’d be asking for about 17 days total. I will still have to go for a few weeks, but at least it’s not the full summer.

They have another full-time nanny. She will be with them all summer.

In the past two years, I’ve only ever taken one sick day, and I’m always flexible with my schedule and I’m available to work on the days requested. Have a great relationship with the kids and, although I don’t talk to the parents much because they’re so busy, they seem very happy with me. So I’m wondering if this is a reasonable request? I’m dreading the idea of having to go back there this summer. I would’ve used my pay vacation for this, but something came up with my family and I had to use it then.

Hi all! So one month ago I sent my agent (boutique) my revised manuscript based on her edits. Didn’t hear anything except confirmation it was received and saying her plan was to go out on sub in April (that month). I follow up w/ her towards the end of April, checking in. She said she’d been busy getting other books on sub but still planned to have me book go out by end of April.

Now it’s May 5th and I haven’t heard anything.

Is this normal ? Or a red flag? This is my first time doing this. Thank you!
