Hi I bought 3 x cartridges of this film for super8 camera years ago but never got round to using it
It's been sat most of the time in my fridge, unopene, sealed in the protective packets in their boxes
Just wondered if there is a market for me to sell this on to someone else for use?
I know this film has been discontinued and obviously it will have long expired - the date says 2006 on the box
Any help or suggestions welcome please, I've been out of the film industry for some while
Thanks
I bought a harness for my les paul kit which was very nicely soldered but obviously required me to do the pickups and other grounds...
I was using a draper 40w iron that we just wasn't getting thr job done easily so I bought a lytool soldering iron with adjustable heat to finish the job
After a grounding issue all seemed to be working but then after a while the tone knob was cutting out at the rnd of the sweep so opened up the controls and with a bit of messing around it worked.
But the I found a grounding issue that seems related to the volume pot - one of the ground wires had come loose
I'm awful at soldering and have made a complete mess to the back of this pot. I've tried using a solder suckered to clean it up but still pretty bad - I was running the iron at 430c and the pot was getting really hot so I didn't want to risk damaging it any further
I've still got issues with grounding but when I put the backplate on, playing it when off seems to be OK which indicates something might be pushing and making contact it shouldn't be... perhaps the capacitor?
Can anyone help me identify the issue and any suggestions on how I can clean up the mess I made or at this point should I just throw the pot away and get a new one?
Edit - picture in the comment below as I forgot to attach it
Went to a blues jam last night and was handed a chord sequence to follow but apart from knowing the key I was a bit nervy and found it hard to follow the chord changes - it was quite a busy song, not your typical 12-bar I IV V...
When I play I try and see what the other guitarists are doing and do some inversions instead higher up the neck. Any tips for getting these smoother so I have the options and don't hesitate so much? I guess it's knowing the chord shells and neck inside out that helps
The second song I didn't realise the main guitarist had downtuned so I was out if key and couldn't figure out why until he told me after
Any tips for being able to quickly pick up on the chords a band is playing and go along with them if you don't know the song or never heard it before?
The other blues guitarists at the jam are incredible and they all just seem to know what the right thing to do is and they also know how to play with the rhythm or add vamps and single note licks that don't get in the way...
I just fumble around and sound pretty dire - i have embraced being rubbish but getting up to play until I get better and luckily it's a very nice and welcoming crowd but I really want to improve on this and hold my own. I'm quite good technically but musically lacking!
Any feedback on technique for this please? The fast run high up the neck is the bit I struggle with the most
Thanks!
Kit guitar build from coban guitars...
Sprayed heritage cherry nitro with dye and burst, gotoh hardware, hosco plastics and Tonerider Generator pickup set
Haven't tested in anger yet, probably a bit of dialling in to do and but bridge pickup doesn't work so got some investigation to do there
Working on this kit build which I've sprayed with nitro lacquer - it's got a very thin veneer which I've dyed and sprayed and resulted I'm this nice burst but the veneer had a lot of pits and dents in it I couldn't get rid of due to the paper thin veneer, I'd end up sanding through it if I tried to get them out...
Having finished the clear coats and sanded and buffed the pits are showing as low spots, a bit less noticeable now that I have buffed the finish but under certain light you can see them as shiny specs
People have suggested to chuck more clear on top to build up the pits and then flatten again so it's smooth but I'm debating whether to just accept and leave it as is
The reason being is that I have had issues with fisheye on several parts of the guitar and now I have buffed with compound I'm concerned that the nitro will react to it no matter how much I wipe and clear off with naptha or white spirit etc.
I burnt through the edges sanding on the back so if I do re spray I'd probably aim to tackle these bits too with a top up of heritage cherry and clear and I might also try going over the fisheye areas again although from experience what happened in the past was that it just didn't take up any of the lacquer at all
I need some guidance, I'm in two minds - this will be a gigging guitar and will take some beating but ive ordered some nice hardware and electronics... do I risk trying to make it visually perfect as I can (involves another round of spraying and 4 weeks more of a wait with potential to cause other issues to the finish) or just accept its flaws and move on?
I put some EKO loft insulation under our kitchen counters behind the boarding to try and stop draughts coming in the winter
As it has got better weather we constantly have ants coming in by the door. I think they are coming in from gaps in the skirting by the door which I've since sealed with sealant, but just found a load of them aroind the same area at night time
I've bought some ant bait to put down in that place
I think they are coming through the gaps but I also wondered if they might be nesting in the insulation. Is this typical for ants to do?
