This make sense!

This make sense!

I was thinking about the scene after Sarbuland is trying to set Rabiya at ease but she has completely shut down. The moment he steps out of the room, his shoulders sag and their OST plays, tum aur main saath ho kay bhi hain judaa. I was wondering about why he was crying because of the placement of the OST and alternating POVs. What am I supposed to think here? This makes sense to me.

Holoyor | Humnava | Season 1 | Hunza | Naveed Deevon & Gojal Twins ft. Sherry Khattak

Been listening to Xulfi's Humnava. Every single track is a banger. Holoyor is so hypnotic and the outro with the entire ensemble singing is 🤌. Can anyone give me the lyrics please?

I heard Xulfi's bringing in some of these artists to Coke Studio 16. Does anyone know when that's supposed to drop?

Loving these experimental shoots!

What is this makeup style? Jirai Kei? Douyin with some Central Asian aesthetics thrown in? Someone with knowledge please tell me.

Favorite Sajal saree looks

Seen her wear the first one many times. She wore it for the Hum Awards after party.

Second look is from the Hum anniversary party. One of her best-styled looks ever.

The hyperventilating over the bullet scene

So, I’ve been watching the discourse blow up over that bullet scene and I am genuinely struggling to understand why some people are losing their minds over it.

It’s not like they invented a new trope. As another post mentioned, this is a standard storytelling device, from romance novels to critically acclaimed cinema. In Castaway, Tom Hanks did dentistry on himself with an ice skate. In Revenant, Leonardo DiCaprio stitched up his own brutal wounds. The first got an Oscar nom, and the second won Leo his Oscar. I’m not comparing our dramas to Oscar-winning movies, just pointing out that this is a completely normal fiction trope across genres.

Everyone keeps saying they want our dramas to go international and get on Netflix, but bruh, you are crying over one scene deviating from the norm.

Onto the different complainers.

The women protection squad

This is men mad that “soft-brained women” are watching "low-IQ" dramas that are making them lose intelligence. Pure, unadulterated misogyny. Because women cannot discern between fiction and reality and cannot be intelligent if they enjoy a bit of escapist romantic fantasy with beautiful people. It’s the exact same energy they give to any media catering to women, acting like these are inferior to the media they consume. TV dramas are one of the few spaces that (sometimes) center women. These same men will unironically worship at the altar of action, superhero, anime movies where characters survive over the top scenarios while not getting a scratch or instantly heal from wounds. They excuse logical absurdities because it’s fiction catering to them. But dramas are fiction too. If you want 100% realism, turn on the news. What is actually wrong with a bit of filmy, romantic, escapist fantasy catering to the female gaze, even if it takes liberties with reality?

The boomer PTV Stans

These folks are permanently stuck in some golden age, forever glazing older dramas. To them, quality died years ago, the standards have fallen, etc. Heaven forbid, PTV tries to adapt to different tastes of new generations. It must stay stuck in their nostalgia loop. They are utterly contemptuous of younger audiences and use nibbi, horny, Wattpad girlies, whatnot, as slurs for them. This lot salivate at the thought of reviewers tearing this show apart. They have the exact same mentality as a GL Amma or a Jazzy or a Nadia while calling themselves progressive. Figures that they relate so hard with fellow boomers.

The fact police

This crowd is consumed with rage over medical inaccuracy, as if people are going to give up med school and start learning from the show. Meanwhile, they will binge on fifteen seasons of Western medical shows, which are a pile of medical absurdities. Plus, the earlier point of this particular trope being an old storytelling device.

The acting critics

People are mad at Danyal for, checks notes, making noises while his character is dealing with a literal bullet wound? Look, Danyal isn't the greatest actor alive, but he did a perfectly good job portraying a man in agonizing pain from a bullet wound.

I'm not calling Zanjeerain perfect. It has many, many issues and I agree with those criticizing these genuine flaws. I'm only addressing the outrage over a scene that really did not come across as cringe to me.

(there's the hobbyless haters but they'll carry on in their echo chambers even if Zanjeerain becomes a masterpiece overnight so not bothered with that lot)

Alif sequel

Was just reading this interview of Haseeb Hasan, and he said that a crew is currently being assembled for an Alif sequel. I had no idea one was even being planned.

Here's what he said:

Rumours have also been swirling about a potential sequel to Alif, and I press him for details.

“To be honest, I can’t reveal too much right now because I am not directly involved in the writing or production stages,” Haseeb clarifies. However, he does add: “What I can tell you is that the crew is actively being assembled for next year.”

The burning question, of course, is who will return to the screen. For fans hoping for a complete reunion of the original lead pair, Haseeb delivers a reality check, tempered with a glimmer of hope.

“The original line-up won’t remain entirely the same. It is highly unlikely that both Sajal Aly and Hamza Ali Abbasi will return. However,” he adds with a cryptic smile, “we might still see Sajal involved in some capacity.”

Sajal back in Kalabagh for Zanjeerain shoot

Sajal is back in Kalabagh shooting for Zanjeerain.

Her makeup artist posted a script copy for Episode 29, and the location was SB's room. No other cast members have posted anything, so who knows who else is on set right now.

Saima Akram Chaudhary's brutal takedown

First Mohammed Ahmed and now her! The sheer number of celebs flooding his reel is insane. So satisfying to see actors and writers clap back at these reviewers who are out there acting like literal Twitter and Insta trolls. They don't criticize, they demean and give fodder to the trolls to be even meaner. Constructive criticism is good and needed, not this constant belittling.

This is the translation btw. Original - Is khatoon ko kisi psychiatrist ki ashad zaroorat hai. Mera aik dil se likha hua script, unhon ne apni intehai fuzool acting se poora barbad kar diya tha aur ab yeh baith kar doosron ki acting ko judge karti hain balkay tanqeed nahi tadhik karti hain. Yun samjhein bandar ke haath mein maachis aayi hui hai.

this cinesutraa post for sajal is love

sajal in btown is a need atp

It is heartwarming to see her still getting so much love for her only Bollywood movie. The engagement on that post is absolutely insane.

If you haven't yet, you need to go listen to that beautiful AR Rahman song picturized on her immediately. It is honestly tragic that an actress with Sajal’s level of talent is limited to dramas. She genuinely deserves a bigger canvas to show what she can really do.

I also wish people didn't pull down and disrespect their own artists so much.
