Hi all

I am wanting to get a new pair of Birkenstocks soon. Some context: ever since high school I have worn Birkenstocks (Gizeh and Arizona). However the most recent pair of Arizonas I got I couple years back (which as far as I'm aware were the correct size) would hurt my feet after attempting to break them in for months. They would rub on the inner part of my feet. This never happened with my previous pairs of Birkenstocks (including Arizonas). I have since got rid of this pair as I am not sure if they could've been defective, but either way I was unable to wear them.

I would like to get another pair of Birkenstocks, ideally Arizonas. I used the sizing chart from the box which indicated I need a size EU 41 and tried a pair of Arizonas on in store in this size, however they seemed to big length wise, but width wise they were slightly tight. When I tried them down in a size EU 40 they were even tighter width wise and slightly too short length wise. I tried the Mayaris on in a size EU 41 and they seemed to fit a lot better both length and width wise.

Are Mayaris known to work better for wider feet? I was always under the impression that the footbeds were the same across all Birkenstock models?

Any help or advice would be appreciated. I am currently leaning towards getting a pair of Mayaris, but cannot understand why the Arizonas no longer seem to fit after they have worked many years for me?
