I hate how misunderstood Obito is
I genuinely think Obito is one of the most misunderstood characters in Naruto. So many people reduce him to "he started a war because Rin died," but that's such a surface-level take of his character.
Rin wasn't the sole reason he broke. She was the final straw. Obito spent his childhood as an outcast, got crushed under a boulder while trying to do the right thing, woke up in a cave being manipulated by Madara, watched the person who supported him for a good portion of his life, was always there for him, and the girl who represented the only happiness he had in his life, get killed by his best friend, and was immediately fed the idea that the shinobi world itself was fundamentally broken.
People also ignore that Obito himself says Rin wasn't the reason—she was simply the victim of a world that kept producing tragedies like hers. His goal became escaping that reality entirely through the Infinite Tsukuyomi, not bringing Rin back to life. He could have put a genjutsu on himself if it was just about being with Rin. But he didn't, he wanted peace for everyone
You don't have to agree with his ideology and his methods(infinite tsumiyoki is screwed up), but saying "he started a war over a girl" completely strips away the complex traits which define his character. It feels like people either haven't paid attention or intentionally oversimplify him because it's an easy meme.
