Care to help a reader on the translations?

I’m going through the Dungeon Mesh/Delicious in Dungeon manga, and I’m loving every bit of what I’m reading.

Although, having went through knowing how published versions of the manga will always have flawed translations, I’m skeptical on things I’m missing from reading the version that’s officially published (and I have a principle against when localization affects the experience).

Can anyone cite and list down the mistranslations or things you miss from reading the published version by Yen Press?

The only ones I know of is from the localized title, and how Thristle was misgendered for a portion of the manga before it was corrected (clever workaround), along with their name being different.

They got off lucky

Was thinking about how, in the pace of what’s happening, why didn’t the monk just kill them?

Then I realized:

A.) It’s a monk’s temple, likely no deadly weapons
B.) The guy has no weapons to speak of (like bladed ones), and even using a monk’s stick would’ve still woken them up.
C.) Trying to assault them or burn them while in their sleep would’ve likely woke them up, and they would’ve found their way to try to escape while he makes a break for it.

Racking my head on the lack of reading comprehension on the story, universe and Lucy’s character and personality in the comments.

Did they change Tifa’s Overpower combo string in Rebirth?

I replayed a bit of Tifa’s combat in Rebirth, and found that the follow-up leaping back foot slam kick that you can do in Chi Level 2 in Remake after executing Overpower with a combo string, doesn’t seem to work like in Remake?

Is there a timing to it? Couldn’t figure out no matter how much I try.

Remake trilogy’s cutscenes on high-framerate, no subtitles and immersed with headphones, are amazing.

Seriously, if you just turn off subtitles altogether, and have a good immersive audio output device, you’re really getting some of the best and most immersive movie-like gaming experience there is.

Turning off the subtitles takes away the idea that these are just mere “video-game cutscenes”, really immersing you to the tight overall direction and snappy storyboarding the cinematics are presented, like immersed into a film crafted by people who really care about how the presentation of the story immerses me while watching, not relying on me reading which gets in the way of the character acting.

And it running in-engine on the same fps as actual gameplay with natural transitions makes for the perfect blended experience of film and game.

While you may not be able to catch on to every detail (especially Sephiroth whose every paraphrasing and lore detail gets buried by the music), it’s a style of experience that’s worth checking out.

Really got me to appreciate game cutscenes crafting as an art. This really got me questioning the nature of 30fps or pre-rendered cinematics that are separate from how the game presents itself outside of cutscenes that breaks immersion.

I hope Edgerunners 2 manages to pull it off

One of my personal biggest gripes with modern storytelling is sort of in its design intention to not feature a protagonist that is the main point of view of the story, and felt like having too many characters over the main character causes a bloat and feels there to pad out the story or just use to showcase the scope of the world and introduce new things while adding little to the development beats and detracting focus from a character to pour investment in while given little time to fit it cohesively.

I hope it doesn’t repeat my gripes on modern stories, especially how ER1 had the advantage of a story of a single main perspective that fit a 10 episode format. I wouln’t want to follow a JJK/AOT-like scenario in its treatment of cast and story.

Absolute tears in my eyes.

One of the story’s greatest written sequences. Takahashi truly knew how to write their dilemma, strength and humanity.

I question the writing of Kikyo’s judgement sometimes

Goes up there just to taunt him, when the the scene kinda showed that she already has enough chances to finish him off with “dirt shield”, just to decide that she wants to finish him along with the jewel. When she would’ve known better than to take that risk of him powering up to remove the advantage she has.

Also where are his minions with Kanna and Kagura?

What kinda effect will Edgerunners 2 have that draws people to play/go back to 2077?

One of the most heartwarming and hilarious legacy Edgerunners 1 left was getting people, especially old players, to really wanna pummel Adam Smasher for revenge for taking away the crew and couple’s happily ever after.

Any idea what series 2 will get people to do?

Replaying is realizing Chapter 8 is truly the worst chapter of all.

This is no slight against the story and what it does with you and Aerith.

But if you're going for a completionist run, this is truly one of the sloggiest missions you have to endure in the game, where you have to go through so much of the forced unskippable scripted padding over and over.

Needing a set amount of side missions just to get Aerith's different dresses for Chapter 9, the fact that if you need to otherwise get the last dress that you might need BUT it blocks you from being able to get all the needed scriptures (Upgrade Points) for Hard Mode if you didnt do the rest of the quests, forcing you to replay the mission AGAIN just to go through the sloggy scripted pacing to get to the part where you need the quests for the dress.

A real nightmare for anyone who didn't plan ahead and efficiently on approaching on how to get the dresses and the upgrade point collectibles. Doesn't help when you completed the first run when you got all the missions to get Aerith's best dress from the getgo.

Isn't it funny the debate's always about Kagome or Kikyo, but people deadass forgot about this:

The manga was giving little reason to pit Kagome and Kikyo compared to the anime.

Can't believe how much the manga was showing Kagome being this protective and understanding.

Would it make sense for a party to have more than the average of 3-4 members?

In other fantasies or even RPGs, you see how a party or group would be filled with a really diverse set of members that adds to the overall interactive chemistry and connections, and shows how there are more roles to play and how they function as a unit even as individuals.

In the case of Frieren (with Himmel, Eisen and Heiter as her first, to then her current with Fern and Stark, and on occasion Sein) you see that her party really only consists of like the designated role of a warrior, priest and a mage, and those roles alone (and if lucky, there would be two who fit one of those roles). No thieves/rogues, technicians, other support roles or maybe a mage with a different specialization since Fern is essentially meant to follow Frieren’s style of magic.

You think Frieren should have a bit more to her company, or is this enough?

Anyone got any tips and tricks on how to actually evade Umbra Strike?

Tried everything, it’s all inconsistent, can never get the button timings right or Cloud to dodge fast enough, nor the Parry Materia to get me to evade completely, compared to Tifa being literally no hassle against that attack.

What’s with all these save reports on the Xbox port on Rebirth

I’ve yet to start a new game, but I booted up, the game detected my save from both vanilla and intermission from Intergrade, plus the bonus items for a detected save from the Rebirth demo.

What’s going on and why is this save file issue happening? Are you guys playing on a Series S or X, or are you playing in Xbox Play Anywhere on your PC? In which case, I got in console and it turned out fine.

What’s your situations?

Damn, the fallout after the kiss is way better in the manga

Less trying to put Inuyasha in a place of saying something careless like the anime.
