Would it be cosmic horror?

Would it be cosmic horror?

Genuinely curious because I've been thinking about it lately. Would these creatures fall under cosmic horror? They're warped by forces beyond comprehension and obey completely different laws to the natural

I would genuinely be grateful for a determination on if I fall into cosmic horror or just general

Thank you for reading!

Edit: for the downvotes, I would also love to hear why you say it isn't, genuinely curious on where that line is and who to cross it more firmly

Rituals - Hail to the Tyrant

I've touched on the different types of monsters, with each having their own playstyles and ability sets, but I wanted to give you an idea of what the final stages really look like with the ritual summons.

They aren't like the lesser creatures you can find in the facility, these are fights you need to go looking for. Each monsters takes a sacrifice of seven creatures, six to give it form, and your partner to actually bring it to life.

Unlike the others who are easy to control and aren't aggressive to you, the Ritual Beast are far more dangerous and sit in the same bracket as the player. So, if you summon one, be ready to fight.

The reward, however is a literal boss monster on your team that has access to skills and abilities from multiple branches, and has a much faster growth rate than any other grouping.

Though only your partner can hold the form, so choose wisely, because you only get one at a time

Looking for inspiration

This sub has given me a lot of support since I joined, so I want to incorporate a little bit of it into my own game (got a page on steam and everything)

I want to add a set of monsters based on what the lovely folks of this sub want to see more of. Be them weird and disturbing, or more down to earth and less unsettling

So, how about it, what would you like to see in this style?

Freaks above to make the post worth looking at

Creature entries

So, a little while ago, I asked what sort of entries people wanted to see in my monster tamer, and it lead to a few changes with how I've structured some of the world. I honestly really enjoyed doing it, it was nice to get back to something I haven't done in a while. So, here's some of the lore of the world. I'll be adding more as I go and adding in similar entries into the game with more game specific info. Please let me know what you think or what you'd rather read about!

The Monsters you make

Say hello to the humble bilefrog. Sweet little things that they are, they're extremely trusting and will eat just about anything you give them. Results will vary.

This is a nicely little cross section to show how each creature is going to look a little different after meals. Don't worry, though, much like your own personal augmentations, nothing is so permanent that you can't just take them apart and rebuild them from scratch.

With that, there will 800+ hand drawn abominations, and hopefully everyone can find a team they like.

I will return! in about a hundred or two hundred monsters...

The lower life forms

In every monster tamer ever, there have been the creatures you find early on, and forget all about later. The lowest levels of the eco-system that server as fodder and spend their days living in fear.

Say hello to the lower life forms. The little guys that serve to help you adjust to the world before things get nasty. 36 in all, with six mutations each. These little guys all have their own ways of doing things, and each type has their own strengths and weaknesses. Which eco-system would you favor?

  1. primals (more animal like)

  2. remnant machines (brought to life by interaction with the Void)

  3. Vor'lisk first wave (hastily synthesized biomechanical fodder)

  4. Lower acolytes (tangible virtues accumulated over time)

  5. lesser sins (desperation made flesh)

  6. body horrors (a persistent sickness in the world)

I hope you enjoy!

Innacorde open test demo

Game Title: Innacorde: Remember Me (Test)

Playable Link: https://innacorde.itch.io/innacorde-remember-me-test

Platform: Windows

Description: Remember Me is a cosmic horror monster tamer that leverages body horror specifically, taking inspiration for the likes of The Thing and the xenomorph from the Alien franchise.

It's a unique take on the turn based system that focuses on attack synergy and punishing stat manipulations as fights range between quick and brutal and wars of attrition, depending on how you decide to use your creatures. Stat shortfalls can be corrected with targeted augmentation, but there is no perfect solution for all problems.

The story follows the same brutal pragmatism that bleeds through every aspect of the game. To tame monsters, you need to be worse.

Free to Play Status: Demo

Involvement: I'm a solo developer working on this alone. barring a few sound assets, everything is made by me

Legendary monsters

So I have a question that I'd like to get everyone's opinion on.

How do you guys feel about boss monsters needing a ritual to summon and use rather than just straight catching?

Pictured are The Apostate and Pale-horse so you have an idea of how different they are to the regular. Summoning either would need a sacrifice of 6 separate creatures to actually make up the composition of their bodies (lore wise) or would you rather just be able to make a smaller version without the effort? all sacrificed monsters would be returned to the fleshy pulp from whence they came, so you can get them back, but you lose the levels on them.
