XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K vs Refreshed JMGO N1S 4K (1700 ISO) – Side-by-side thoughts (color & detail)

Just did a side-by-side of the XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K and the refreshed JMGO N1S 4K (1700 ISO version). Same source, same screen, dark room.
Settings used for the comparison:
XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K
• Picture Mode: Standard
• Sharpness: 5
• DBLE: On
• Gamma: Dark
• Color Space: Native
• HDR: On
• DNR / MPEG: Off
• Local Contrast: High

JMGO N1S 4K (1700)
• Picture Mode: Standard
• Color Temperature: Warm
• Gamma: Dark
• Adaptive Luma: Off
• Local Contrast: Off
• DNR: Off
• MPEG: Off

Observations:
The XGIMI pulls more fine detail and texture, especially in the nebula and the planet surface. It just resolves a bit more information. However, it has a clear warm / red push. Magentas and reds are more saturated and shifted warmer, which makes the image look more vibrant but less neutral.
The JMGO leans cooler and more neutral. It pushes blue slightly and keeps colors more restrained without the oversaturation. Overall color looks more accurate and controlled compared to the XGIMI’s warmer, redder presentation. Blacks also looked a little cleaner on the JMGO in this scene.
Brightness was reasonably close, but I still need to do a proper white-field match next time.
Quick take so far:
• Detail / sharpness / texture → XGIMI
• Color accuracy / neutrality (less red push, no oversaturation) → JMGO
• Overall “wow” / punch → XGIMI (partly because of the warmer, more saturated look)
• More natural / accurate color → JMGO
Honestly it’s hard to pick a clear winner. It really comes down to personal preference — whether you prefer the extra detail and warmer, more vibrant look of the XGIMI, or the cooler, more neutral and controlled color of the JMGO.

Budget 4K Projector Comparison: JMGO N1S 4K Original vs Refreshed (1100 vs 1700 ISO)

Location: Mount Vernon, WA
Room: Bedroom, roughly 13 ft wide × 8 ft tall wall (light-controlled)
Budget: Under $1,000
I recently got the refreshed JMGO N1S 4K 1700 ISO lumens and compared it side by side with my original N1S 4K 1100 ISO. Both are currently available under $1,000, so if you’re shopping in that price range this comparison should help.
Both units look identical on the outside, same S91A model name, same design, same size. The only reliable ways to tell them apart (besides the brightness difference) are the DLP version numbers:
• Original = DLP 6.0.6
• Refreshed = DLP 2.6.3

Brightness is the biggest upgrade. The 1700 ISO version is clearly brighter in the same lighting conditions and holds up better with ambient light or an open window. It has more punch without needing to crank the settings.

Color is also improved. The original had a noticeable red/warm push, especially in skin tones. The refreshed unit looks cleaner and more neutral out of the box. I tested both in Movie mode with color temperature set to Warm, and the difference is easy to see.
I posted a side by side videos with open window and lots of ambient light showing the difference in brightness and color.

Bottom line:
If you’re deciding between the two versions under $1,000, get the refreshed 1700 ISO model. The extra brightness and better color make it more usable as a portable, camping, or secondary room projector without changing the compact form factor that makes the N1S series appealing in this price range.

JMGO N1S 4K Refreshed (1,700 ISO lumens) vs Original N1S 4K (1,100 ISO lumens)

I recently got the refreshed JMGO N1S 4K with the higher 1,700 ISO lumen rating and put it side by side with my original N1S 4K 1,100 ISO lumens. The difference is immediately noticeable and worthwhile if you’re looking at this model for portable, camping, or secondary room use.

Both units look virtually identical on the outside, same form factor, same design, same footprint, and both are labeled S91A. It’s genuinely hard to tell which is which just by looking at them. The only reliable ways to distinguish them (other than the brightness difference) are the DLP version numbers: the original shows DLP version 6.0.6, while the refreshed unit shows DLP version 2.6.3

The most obvious upgrade is brightness. The refreshed unit is clearly brighter in the same lighting conditions. You get better punch and visibility with some ambient light still present, which makes a real difference for daytime or lightly controlled rooms. The extra output helps the image hold up better without needing to crush the blacks or overdrive the settings.
Color is the other clear improvement. The original N1S 4K leaned noticeably warm/red in skin tones and certain content. The refreshed unit looks cleaner and more neutral out of the box colors appear more accurate and natural without that red push. I shot two short 20 second side by side comparison videos with both projectors set to Movie mode and color temperature on Warm. The clips show the difference pretty clearly on both brightness and color temperature.

For portable use, gaming or as a secondary projector, the refreshed N1S 4K is the one I’d recommend if you’re choosing between the two versions. The brightness bump and cleaner color make it more versatile without changing the compact form factor or the overall ease of setup that the N1S series is known for.

[WTS] [USA-WA] [H] AWOL Aetherion Max [W] $2,500 PayPal/Cash,

Hey r/AVexchange,

The day after the Aetherion Max campaign ended last April, AWOL sent out VIP recall offers to some of us who had dropped out at the last minute. I took them up on it and the unit arrived today with the VIP perks.

I haven’t opened the shipping box at all yet. The outer carton has some typical transit wear (scuffed corners and tape marks — see pics), but everything looks properly sealed and protected inside. No rattles or concerns.

I’m on the fence about whether to set this one up or not — still weighing it out.

Asking $2,500 obo. Originally $4,499 retail. Cash preferred locally (Mount Vernon, WA / willing to meet partway toward Seattle/Bellevue), or PayPal G&S for shipping, buyer covers shipping cost.

Timestamp photo included per sub rules. Happy to answer any questions!

AWOL Aetherion Max VIP recall offer unit arrived — outer shipping box still completely unopened!

Hey r/projectors,

The day after the Aetherion Max campaign ended last April, AWOL sent out VIP recall offers to some of us who had dropped out at the last minute. I took them up on it and the unit arrived today with the VIP perks.

I haven’t opened the shipping box at all yet. The outer carton has some typical transit wear (scuffed corners and tape marks, see pics), but everything looks properly sealed and protected inside. No rattles or concerns.

Anyone else get one of these VIP recall units? How did yours look after shipping, and what are your impressions now that it’s open (especially with large ALR or Fresnel screens)? Would love to hear your thoughts!

End of My Quest: TITAN Noir Max First Impressions – Deep Blacks, Zero Speckle & Honest Hiccups

Hey r/xgimi,

After months of testing a ton of projectors (Nebula Capsule 3, MoGo 4 Laser, Horizon 20 Pro, JMGO N1S Ultra/4K/N3 Ultimate, etc.), and with my AWOL Aetherion Max arriving next week (which I’ll sell unboxed/sealed if anyone is interested), my TITAN Noir Max finally arrived about a week ago as an early Kickstarter backer and was blessed to win the raffle for 100% refund🙏. I’m genuinely impressed overall.

The good stuff:
• Stunning picture quality with deep blacks, excellent contrast, and strong brightness.
• Premium build quality and straightforward setup.
• I’ve been running it on a cheap 146”Yardmaster Pro screen and have seen zero noticeable speckle so far, which is huge for me since I’m pretty sensitive to speckle and also tested it on my Wupro Floor Rising matte soft grey screen which gave an incredible deep black contrast, less speckle, but a bit grainy.
• Paired with Bose immersive audio and NVIDIA Shield Pro, Dolby Vision casting works perfectly now.

Some hiccups:
• A few remote and menu glitches, including the menu vanishing after saving lens memory settings, turned out to be caused by an extra character like a quotation mark (“) in the name field.
• Dynamic Black Level Enhancement (DBLE) doesn’t seem to make any noticeable difference when turned on. I’ve seen quite a few other users (including a detailed measurement post here on the sub) reporting the same thing on V1.2.54 firmware, it appears to be a common complaint on some early units.
According to XGIMI, a firmware update addressing this is coming soon.

Support was fantastic, quick responses, solid troubleshooting, and fast firmware fixes for the vanishing menu issue. Really appreciate how responsive they’ve been.

I’m planning a big screen upgrade soon (150” wall setup) and leaning toward a WAB (woven acoustic) because of my speckle sensitivity, I’ve been hesitant on ALR screens for that reason. Would love recommendations from anyone running a WAB with the Titan Noir Max.

This one finally ends my long projector quest. Already showed it to coworkers and family, the reactions have been awesome.

Pictures under comment section😊

Big thanks to the XGIMI team!

Titan Noir Max Menu Closes Immediately on Any Adjustment - Anyone Else?

Has anyone else with the Titan Noir Max experienced the settings menu closing immediately when trying to select or adjust any option (Brightness, IRIS, Picture Mode, etc.)?
Menu opens fine with remote or USB keyboard, but disappears the second I try to change something. Already did long power cycles, tried using keyboard, and it’s on the latest firmware. Can’t even reach Factory Reset.
Any fixes or similar issues? Thanks!

JMGO N3 Ultimate: Original Dust Issue → Replacement with Red Flags (Unsealed Brick + Dust)

Just sharing my experience with the N3 Ultimate replacement process in case it helps others.
My original unit had the bright circular spot issue on black screens (internal dust on the DMD). I noticed it while still well within the 30-day return window. I originally wanted a full refund so I could rebuy a fresh unit, but JMGO support swayed me by explicitly offering a brand-new replacement plus complimentary stand or wall mount as goodwill.
The replacement works well (very low uptime after firmware update), but arrived with red flags: power brick not sealed in plastic, visible dust all over the unit, and fibers stuck on the faceplate plastic cover that I had to clean myself. It felt more like a refurbished or customer return than a true factory-sealed new unit.
Overall I’m enjoying the projector now, but the process left me uneasy about replacement QC. If you get a bad early unit, you might be better off just taking the refund and rebuying to guarantee a fresh one.

JMGO N3 Ultimate - Bright circular spots in dark scenes?

New JMGO N3 Ultimate owner here. Two bright circular spots (one sharp, one fainter) appear in the upper image only on pure black screens/test patterns. Not visible during normal dark movie scenes.
Tried black test patterns, lens cleaning, different modes, lens shift, etc. issue persists. Looks like light leakage.
Anyone else seen this on N3 Ultimate? Normal or should I request warranty replacement?
Thanks!
