I think every person with migraines has one symptom they can't explain

Not necessarily the worst symptom.

Just the one that makes you stop halfway through explaining it because you know it won't make much sense to someone who hasn't experienced it.

Mine isn't even the headache.

It's that strange feeling where I know something is off but I can't describe it properly.

One thing that surprised me

I always assumed the hardest part would be explaining the dizziness.

Turns out the hardest part is explaining everything else.

• Feeling "off" without knowing how to describe it.

• Looking completely fine when you don't feel fine.

• Trying to explain why a normal grocery store suddenly feels overwhelming.

• Wondering if you're actually getting better just because today happens to be a good day.

I don't think I expected those parts to be so much harder to put into words.

I never realized how much energy goes into avoiding a bad day

I was thinking about this earlier and realized I spend way more time than I thought doing little things to avoid making a bad day worse.

- Not staying out too long.

- Thinking twice before making plans.

- Checking lighting.

- Making sure I eat.

None of it feels like a big deal individually but added together it’s kind of exhausting. Saw a similar conversation in migrainetriggers and it made me realize I’m probably not the only one doing this without noticing.

Anyone else suffering with heat & humidity intolerance as a trigger? How are we dealing with it?

I’ve always had a hard time regulating my body temperature but I am now dealing with terrible heat and humidity intolerance when out and about during the day. This is a big trigger for my vestibular migraines and vestibular issues. All made worse by perimenopause of course.

This was actually one of my first symptoms before I was officially diagnosed. I get the dizziness, wooziness, and am unbalanced. I’m used to being a sweaty mess but the vestibular symptoms are harder to manage.

How are others coping with the heat?! Please suggest your best tips and products. I will consider anything and everything right now.

I already try to stay hydrated, wear big hats, and stay in the shade as much as I can. I’m wondering if the neck cooking tubes or personal fans are worth it. I’m desperate at this point for some relief so I can still be outdoors when necessary. I hate that VM takes so much from my quality of life.

Do peoplevactually remember what happened before a migraine?

I always think I’m going to remember and then when I actually try to think back I realize most of the day is kind of blurry. Like I’ll remember random details but not the stuff I actually wanted to remember. Then later I start thinking maybe it was this or maybe it was that and I honestly can’t tell if I’m noticing something real or just trying to make the day make sense afterward. Didn’t expect remembering to be this hard part of it.

Is this normal...

every time it happens I tell myself I’m going to pay attention and remember what led up to it so maybe I can understand it better next time. But afterward I mostly remember the visual part and the rest of the day feels weirdly hard to put together. I’ll sit there thinking what did I eat, did I sleep badly, was I on screens too long, was I stressed… and suddenly I’m not even sure anymore. Then a few days later I end up convincing myself I found the reason even though I honestly don’t know if I did. Starting to wonder if other people actually remember the lead up clearly or if this is just part of it.

Heatwaves are my migraine triggers

Besides stress, heat is one of my migraine triggers.

It's extremely hot in Europe now, and I don't have a fan or AC. (though admittedly, a fan wouldn't do much, as the air would still feel heavy and musty)

I just can't anymore, it really sucks. I'm gonna have to buy some AC.

Why is it so that heat triggers migraines? I drink plenty of water, so it cannot be due to dehydration.

Something I keep noticing in migraine discussions.....

A lot if people seem to start out trying to find one obvious trigger and end up talking more about pattern instead. Sleep, stress, routines, meals, screen time - not necessarily one thing, but combinations showing up over time. Interesting how different that is from how most of us expect trigger discovery to work.
