A small moment on a framing job in Northern Utah that made us all laugh

A small moment on a framing job in Northern Utah that made us all laugh

I work as a framing carpenter in northern Utah, mostly framing houses.

Back in late September 2025, my boss got a job to completely gut and remodel a house for a guy who had actually been my boss’s foreman years ago when he first started framing. So it was kind of a full-circle situation.

While we were tearing everything out, there was this old telephone still hanging on the wall inside the house. Nothing fancy—just one of those older-looking wall phones that had clearly been there for a long time.

One of the guys I was working with looked at it and said, “Hey, look, that looks like the kind of phone they used back in Joseph Smith’s day.”

We all just kind of paused for a second and then burst out laughing. It wasn’t meant to be deep or anything—it was just one of those dumb jobsite comments that hits everyone at the same time and makes the day better.

Anyway, just a small northern Utah moment I thought people here might appreciate.

Grand Blanc LDS Church incident – discussion on local awareness and reporting

Has anyone in Genesee County been following the reporting on the Grand Blanc LDS Church incident?

I’ve noticed there’s been a lot of discussion and different versions of coverage circulating, and I’m curious how people locally feel about how it’s been reported and understood.

Not trying to push any specific source—just wondering what people in the area have been hearing and whether local reporting has felt accurate or complete.

Hi everyone,

I have a small claims court hearing coming up in Logan, Utah in front of Judge Lee Edwards. I was wondering if anyone here has experience appearing in his court for small claims cases and could share what the process is like.

I’m not looking for legal advice on my case—just trying to understand what the general courtroom experience is like (for example: how formal the process is, how much time people usually get to present their case, and how questioning typically works).

I’ve been preparing my case and documentation and just want a better idea of what to expect so I can be organized and not caught off guard.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience.

I’ve been watching a channel called Midwest Safety that does incident breakdowns using body cam and other footage, usually with commentary from a retired officer.

They just released one on the Grand Blanc LDS church shooting. I had actually suggested it to them last year, and they mentioned it might take a long time, so I was surprised to see it already out.

Content warning: shooting footage + strong language.

One thing that stood out to me was how the situation unfolded inside the building and how much people depended on outside help to get out.

From a law enforcement perspective, how does the response look here? Anything stand out as handled particularly well or not?
