The Watermark Is Pointless

That extremely (to say the least) annoying diamond watermark is pointless because there are workarounds. This includes cropping it out.

When it can't be cropped out without cropping essential portions of the image, the workaround is to ask for a revision (such as "extend the area of grass below her feet), which forces the watermark lower down on the image, where it can then be cropped out without cutting off key parts of the image. Another workaround is to attach the image in chat and ask chat to "remove the diamond in the lower right and fill naturally."

In summary, there's no point in this watermark being programmed in; anyone with mediocre tech abilities will figure out how to omit it. This can be a pain, but it CAN be done, and gets done all the time. I've used a ton of Gemini generations so far -- and none show a watermark.

Has AI taken your business?

I was kind of thinking of creating basic clip art that writers might need for their stories, when I realized, "Why would they spend money on clip art when they can have AI make it for them for free in just seconds?"

I noticed there's a TON of clip art on Etsy, and many of the designs look like they can easily be created using AI (I'm well-versed in AI creation). I'm wondering if any of you have suffered noticeably reduced sales since chatGPT, et al, have become very big and people have learned to use these platforms to create just about any kind of image?

"The Proof Is Out There" Constant Warnings of "Don't Try this at Home"

I watched the latest episode about superhuman strength, and at least three times, possibly four, throughout the show, the host said, "Do not try this at home." I'm wondering if this is just for laughs, because anyone who's dumb enough to see if they could remove their hand from an open bear trap faster than the trap can close, is going to try this whether the host says "Don't try this at home" or not.

The second weird issue is that whenever shows give this warning (it's not just the "Proof" show), they always say "at home." Many of these stunts can't even be done at home; people will try them at the park, get injured, then sue the show because the show said only "at home" instead of "anywhere" or even just leaving it as "Do not try this."

I hope this is the right place to vent about this incredibly ridiculous admonition that these kinds of shows always have. I've also heard it on "America's Got Talent." Can these shows be held legally accountable if the warning isn't given, someone tries a stunt, gets injured, sues and collects a few million?

Nonspeaking Letter Poker Interviews Woody Brown

Below is a link to an interview by Jason Jacoby Lee, another nonspeaker who uses a letter card HELD by his mother, who allegedly composes high-end, master's level prose, despite no proven background in learning literacy.

Lee says he interviewed Woody Brown via the letter board, and Woody answered via letter board, but that their "communication partners" then typed on a regular computer the questions and answers, forming it into an article that was then submitted to lareviewofbooks.org. It's no coincidence that both Lee's parents are highly educated.

The big question that leaps out is if both these men poked out numerous, lengthy, complex paragraphs for questions and answers on plastic alphabet cards (which they refer to as "typing"), then why didn't they just "type" (tap with index finger) everything on a regular keyboard set up for direct email correspondence?

The two research papers that Lee references mean NOTHING. Nice try, Mr. and Mrs. Lee's parents. Here's the link. This is just so NOT believable:

If the witches had all that "power" how were they captured and burned in Salem?

One of the series' incongruities was that in at least one episode there was talk of them being captured during the Salem witch hunts. How would this have been possible if they could just click their fingers and disappear? There was an episode where Serena ends up in a jail cell. She uses her magic to vanish. They can turn humans into frogs. They can instantly teleport anywhere. Yet they got captured in Salem? They couldn't just click their fingers and go "poof!" and be gone?

Need Help with Special Needs Photographer

I'm a provider with a woman with special needs who loves taking pictures and wants to sell "mini prints." The prints are about 3'' x 5" or around there. She also makes another handcraft that's very suitable for various fairs in the city. But she's hell bent on selling the mini prints. We've been to three fairs so far, and only one print sold (I was actually very surprised).

The print that sold wasn't even in a sleeve or frame, but she wants to put them in sleeves. My take is that she's getting her hopes way up and wasting time and money on producing these mini prints. Do people really buy these at a fair? It's not like a keychain, pot holder, magnet, jewelry, coaster, fidget, toy, mug, or some other item that when you see it, you instantly know what you can use it for.

Mini prints don't get hung in offices or on living room walls. Who'd want to buy a mini print of a flower, a skater at a show, a foamy latte, a vintage car, mountains, a locally famous singer and other run of the mill imagery? Maybe I'm missing something so that's why I'm here.

I don't want to tell her outright, "Nobody buys mini prints, especially at fairs. These are something that people will create on their own of family members or their pets."

I've decided to just wait over time, as she comes to realize, "Nobody ever buys my mini prints."

I guess my question is, Where is the best place she can sell these? CAN they sell?

Has a female DA ever been shorter than Benson?

Every single female DA is taller than Benson, who's already tall. This is not a coincidence. I'm all for casting tall women! But SVU also consistently casts female doctors as way shorter than Olivia; and in general, female guest spots are around 5-2 to 5-4, and only rarely over 5-7.

Since the DA is an authoratative role, that's why they cast actresses who are at least 5-8. It would be interesting if the next female DA (and yes, there will always be a new one) is like 5-3. When pigs fly! And while I'm at it, crusty male landlords are always around 5-5.

Can't get enough of the Woody Brown ("Upward Bound") scandal...

I know the whole thing broke in early March and seems to have blown over, but there's still comments coming in on Jill Bearer's YT, and there WAS talk of a second novel. I'm also very disturbed that many comments on various reddit subs suggest an ideomotor effect going on with Mary Brown, when it's plain as day that the whole thing is a very conscious fraud on her part.

This includes his college degrees. So I thought I'd post two brilliant commentaries ripping the fraud apart and showing it's clearly not an ideomotor or wishful thinking, but an actual, pre-meditated, very well-calculated ruse. The first link reveals what he tapped on the board. This proves fraud outright.

Any Autistic People Here?

When I was 12, after seeing "Jaws" for the first time, I developed an obsession with shark attacks and the movie. Didn't know back then I was autistic; got diagnosed four years ago. I am SO thundering mad that things like Reddit, YouTube and news outlets that post every single shark attack, plus videos of such, weren't around during the height of my hyperfixation. That was so many years ago, and I wish I could resurrect my infatuation, but I just can't. However, I'm still very fascinated by shark attacks and watch "Shark Week."

So I'm wondering if there are other autistics in this sub! I realize one need not be autistic to be really into sharks (no pun intended), but when one is autistic and takes a deep dive, it's just wild.

Wix Is Confusing AF

I work with a special needs adult; very high functioning but just needs some extra help learning "big" things. She wanted a website. I suggested WIX because it's free. Or so we thought. In an attempt to get the site up and going, WIX will stop you every step along the way to upsell. It's not as simple as just skipping these upsell attempts. It's not straightforward.

It's an erratic, convoluted process. In fact we had to ask chatGPT to give us the link to whatever page it is on WIX where you can sign up for a free website. We couldn't find this anywhere at first. I myself have a college degree and high IQ (been tested), and operate a Wordpress site, yet I had great difficulty with WIX.

Around in circles, in a recurring loop, clicked all over the place and just couldn't find where to actually start creating a website after payment for the domain was processed. Instead we got a bunch of templates, and no matter which one was clicked, it took her back several steps. I stat there for extended periods, studying and scrutinizing pages on the site, and it just didn't come together. So I finally told her, "scrap this, let's try blogger."

For those here not familiar with Blogger, it's an obvious straighforward process and BAM, you have your site. Yes, the features are limited, and your control is limited, but at least her site was literally up and ready, and she even made posts, in zip time.

I can't believe so many people have figured out Wix, unless they have spent inordinate amounts of time at home secretly struggling with it - and the length of time is kept a secret, so everyone thinks everyone else figured out Wix without a problem. Well, I don't have this kind of time with my client. And Blogger doesn't nab you with endless upsell attempts.

r/nsfl was banned!

Can't believe this sub was banned; went to it and got the notice saying it violated rule 1. I checked this rule; it prohibits users expressing hatred or vitriol towards each other. It really steams me off that someone would act this way in the r/ nsfl sub.

This sub showed unedited, unblurred, uncensored film footage of mostly fatal accidents. Viewing these provides teaching moments, particularly for people involved in risky jobs such as operating a forklift, using a lathe, unloading a truck, dealing with heavy equipment, working with potentially explosive materials or things that can fly off or clamp down unexpectedly, etc.

If a similar sub goes up to replace this, please let me know.

It Finally Happened! I found myself behind truck carrying steel coils!

So I had stumbled across the video of the man trying to stop a steel roll coming at him (you all know which one I'm talking about). This made me seek out videos of other steel coil mishaps.

And I thought, Gee, I don't think I've ever seen one of these loads in real life, but if I ever do, I'm staying clear! So the other day I'm on a major highway to work when suddenly, I realize the truck ahead of me has at least three giant steel coils, all fastened to the bed. I thought, Gotta get ahead of this guy...and WAY ahead! Due to my swiftness, I didn't get the best look at the coils, but at least now I know what it's like to be behind them!

▲ 110 r/childfree

Would love your responses. I'm never married, childfree. Recently read of story of married couple whose first child died at 10 months from rare genetic disorder. Each parent carries a recessive gene for this disease, so the chances are significant that any child they make will inherit the gene from both parents: giving them the fatal disorder.

They adopted twins (smart decision). However, the mom continued engaging in online community for those affected by the disease. She read of a woman who's child had miraculously made it to five years. This inspired the mom to talk her husband into trying for a second bio child, even though they knew the odds of that child inheriting the disease were high.

The disorder causes significant global problems; there's no cure; it's always fatal in babyhood or very young age, and these kids face many doctor appointments, visits to hospitals, can't walk, eye problems, etc.

So she and her husband get pregnant and sure enough, the baby gets the disease.

This all sounds to me like a little ego: wanting to create mini me's. Why not just adopt a third child? What's with this mini me crap? I'm sure the parents can't imagine their life without their sick, terminal child, but BEFORE the girl was conceived, there was no child to not be able to imagine life without. So it's not about "after the fact." It's about "before the fact." I say it's VERY SELFISH to procreate when there's a high chance your child will have profound medical issues that will, guaranteed, lead to death very early in life. Yeah, any child from two healthy-gene parents can end up with a fatal genetic disorder, but THESE parents ALREADY knew what the odds were.
