English Retro Haul from Messiuu / England 06 / Chelsea 97/99 / Man Utd 90/92
With all the delays caused by the surge of World Cup orders, factory raids, and raids at my local customs, these took 22 days arrive, instead of the usual 14 days from past orders I had with them.
England 2006 Home kit
Size: XL
They reached the World Cup’s quarter-final, where they lost in the penalties against Portugal, which has become one of the greatest moments of Portugal’s national team history with Ricardo defending pens without gloves being the icon of this. Besides that, it’s also one of my favourite England jerseys.
England’s crest has almost all the material and types you can get. The shield is a stitched on fabric patch, the “England” above it is embroidered, and the star is heat pressed vinyl. Umbro’s logo is embroidery too, and the tag at the bottom is rubber.
On the inside of the collar there’s a knit Saint George’s cross and below it a soft fabric piece with part of England's shield screen printed. They’re neat details.
The flocking is looking great, and above Beckham there’s an embroidered England flag in a diamond shape.
As for the fit, even though I already sized up once to get a more roomier fit, this turned out fitting like a normal fan version jersey in size L. It’s still comfortable due to it’s soft fabric, but not the baggier fit I usually get with other XL sizes. The neck hole and collar are fitting nicely.
Chelsea 97/99 Home
Size: XL
This turned out prettier than what I expected and has become my favorite Chelsea kit, and one where the long sleeve really adds to it above the short sleeve version.
Umbro’s logo is embroidered and looks close to the original. Chelsea’s crest is a fabric patch. As for the felt elements, the sponsor is really thick and hard, while the sleeve patches are thinner and softer. Both of them are well applied on the jersey. There’s a heat applied fabric patch at the bottom too.
On the England kit, the detail that made me love it is the red cross on the right shoulder, on this one is the, more subtle, black and yellow lines running on the collar and through the sleeves. The lines on the sleeve are stitched on, and while on the original it seems like they were straight, the wavy pattern they assume on this rep makes me like it more.
Nothing to complain about the flocking again. It’s correct and done well. Above Zola there’s an umbro patch that’s only stitched on the sides, it’s like a part you could hang the jersey from.
This one is fitting like the XL size I’m used to for rep jerseys. A little bit roomy but not that oversized look from the 90s. It’s my best fitting long sleeve jersey. Perfect neckline and collar fit. The sleeves aren’t too straight and slim looking but also not too oversized, and they end on some embracing knitted cuffs.
Manchester United Away 90/92
Size: XL
The oldest retro of this England retro haul, but also the most famous one. It’s the snowflake kit.
United’s crest, the trefoil and the “Sharp” sponsor are all made of felt, but the sponsor is crooked. The shoulder stripes is a single band of knitted fabric, but thinner than the one used for the neckline.
This just has the number 11 for Giggs. No name because this is from before player’s names were used on jerseys. It’s also a really beautiful font, Adidas did great with their fonts in the 90s.
It also follows the expected fit for an XL, and does have a perfect neckline too.
As I did with all the jerseys here, I sized up once from my normal size because the originals were baggier than what these reps are. It’s still not like the originals, but closer than a slim fit if you went true to size. Size up at least once, is my rec.
