New player here! Played gacha before, mainly Hoyo but a few others too. Only really an HSR player now, but I saw the Cyberpunk collab and folded.

That being said, I spent about an hour on Iuno (Luno?)’s trial playing Augusta solo. Please tell me she’s still viable, and if yes when does she get a rerun. Her gameplay is so fun.

Anyway, getting a bit off track. I’m about 5 hours into the game, give or take. I’m taking my time with it, trying to appreciate everything. I’m making this post not for a specific question, but as a kind of open area for anyone who has advice to give. I’ll talk a bit about my impressions, meta questions etc.

I’ve played both Honkai Impact 3rd and Punishing Gray Raven before, and the combat style feels kind of similar. I struggled a bit with the combat in the aforementioned games, probably since I was on keyboard. I’m playing Wuwa on PS, and I have to say the controller experience is amazing.

I went ahead and unlocked flight, though it does feel hard to control I won’t lie, so I’ll stick to land for now. The rest of the traversal is great though. I love the parkour characters automatically pull off when you run straight at obstacles.

So, onto the meta.

Admittedly, I know very little. I’m sure there’s an abyss, and I’m sure there’s certain team comps that are absolutely necessary to have. But I wanted to kind of ask for your impressions on it as older players. Is it improving or getting worse? I’m F2P pretty much forever, with the exception of Welkin-equivalent passes every once in a while when I know I can log a consecutive month.

How strong are supports in this game? I’ve heard the statement ‘there aren’t many healers/supports a few times’ which is really interesting. Also, the game fundamentally works differently than most of my gacha experience since it’s a 3-team not a 4-team. I would assume the format is DPS-Support-Healer? Are sustainless comps used often? And is Shorekeeper THAT meta?

I tried all the trials, and other than Augusta a few stood out. One is (apologies in advance if I misspell them) Hiyuki aka Ice Lady. Her combat is very sick, and somewhat seems normal-attack centered, which I like.

In that same trial, Colorful Motorcyle Lady was also pretty cool, but personally I loved Dark Red Scissor Lady even more. Her animations are sick, and I love her color aesthetic SO much. Also I swear she says DISMANTLE. Caught me off guard for a sec, I got Shinjuku flashbacks.

Another question, do you have the camera set to auto-rotate on enemy lock-on? I have it on because it reminded me of Elden Ring (soulslikes in general), but it felt a bit janky sometimes.

I really like the idea of Echoes, although I’ve forgotten to collect a few after I kill them, which is annoying. Also, I haven’t quite figured out their role in combat. I think the ‘secondary’ echoes are like artifact sets? But I’m not sure just how important or useful the ‘main’ echo is. Is it kind of overlooked or is it a strong part of a character’s moveset?

In terms of banners, I might save till the collab depending on upcoming reruns. I’m not sure what free units you get total, but I know there’s some. Sanhua I think, a few others too? I’m not sure how good these are to invest in tbh.

There’s a standard character and weapon banner selector, and I’ve heard different recommendations. Shorekeeper is pretty consistently the meta pick for character, but I’ve heard people say Stringmaster for weapons. As opposed to others saying avoid it at all costs. And just how unavoidable is Shorekeeper in meta? Nothing against her I’m just more of a sword person usually. Her animations could make up for it though, haven’t seen them yet.

I did one of the discounted 8 pulls and got a Chixia constellation (eidolon? what are they called here?), so that should give you an idea of my luck.

There’s also a character selector I think? I’ve again heard that the support/healer character (Verina I think) is the best choice there too. Honestly though don’t hate me for this but I’m kind of tired of the cute little girl archetype… anyway, Calcharo does look good but I need to know all their places in the meta too (no matter how hard I try I’m a meta slave sadly). Considering the lack of healer types, how does Verina compare to Shorekeeper?

This is getting a bit long so I’ll try to end it lol. Few quickfire questions:

Do you have any general advice in terms of mistakes not to make etc? What do you wish you knew before starting? Are there any creators you recommend for content or guides?

Lastly, do we have any clue how good the Cyberpunk characters will be? I hope they’re an Archer not an Aloy situation. Also, how good are Hiyuki and Red Blade Scissor Lady?

And when does Augusta get a rerun?

I kind of want to get him to solidly replace Cyrene, even though I have her E0 only I sometimes use her with Phainon. But I really need her locked to my Remembrance team lol.

How does an E0 Sunday compare to E1 Sparkle? I have her and user her with Phainon sometimes (alongside E1 Cerydra).
