Refurbishing my house around my VERY active cat - cat walls, indoor “gym”, KBS Pets trees, design ideas?

I’m currently refurbishing my house and I’d really like to design it with my cat in mind rather than just buying a few cat trees afterwards. I’d love ideas from people who have deliberately incorporated cat-friendly features into their home.

My cat is VERY active and high-energy. He has access to a huge, professionally cat-proofed garden (the entire outdoor space was made secure for him, rather than him being allowed to free-roam), so during the warmer months he spends a lot of time outside running, climbing, hunting bugs, exploring, etc.

The issue is autumn/winter/early spring, when he naturally spends much more time indoors. He needs a lot of interactive play and stimulation, so since I’m refurbishing anyway, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to make the actual house more interesting for him.

I’m considering:
• A proper wall-mounted cat gym / climbing wall
• Shelves and steps that create routes around rooms rather than just isolated platforms
• High perches and observation spots
• Bridges or walkways between different sections
• Climbing/scratching surfaces incorporated into the furniture
• Possibly routes that let him get from floor → furniture → wall → high perch without dead ends
• Several cat trees in different rooms

I’ve also been looking at KBS Pets cat trees because I really like their designs. Does anyone here have one, particularly with a large/very active cat? How sturdy are they long-term? Are they actually good for climbing and energetic play, or are they more aesthetically pleasing than functional?

I’m especially interested in making the house feel like he has a three-dimensional territory, rather than simply putting cat furniture on the floor. I don’t mind if some features are obviously “for the cat”, this is his house too!

For those who have designed or renovated a genuinely cat-friendly home: what features ended up being used the most? Anything you installed that your cat completely ignored? And if you were starting from scratch, what would you build into the house?

Photos/examples of your setups would be VERY welcome.

How do I get my cat to drink from his fountain?

My 5yo boy cat is quite spoiled lol

I set up 4 different water stations around the house (all away from his food/litter) he drinks from. I upgraded to large ceramic bowls for whisker fatigue.

I also make sure to give him plenty of quality wet food, including beef from the butcher (like tartare but without toppings, it's approved for humans to eat raw too). He also has a huge pantry of wet foods (and his kibble), as well as liquid treats daily to increase hydration.

I bought him the Cheerble Elfin E1+ fountain. It BPA free plastic + stainless steel tray.

He has never drank from the tap, but I thought he would enjoy this. He stares at it and walks away.

Should I give it three-four weeks? How long did your cats take?

I kept all his water stations, but thought a fountain would increase his hydration (making it 5 water stations, he likes to rotate depending on his mood) 😭

AIO suddenly lost ability to walk and everyone got mad at me?

Female, early 30s. I have some health issues (manageable until now) that require me to visit the ER a lot.

I am staying with family unti mid-September and suddenly lost the ability the walk. I woke up with a terrible headache (resistant to meds) and could not walk. Was alone in the house and waited two hours for help.

The ambulance arrived, I asked them to re-direct me to the nearest city hospital as I had been treated there for neuro, but they sent me to the countryside one.

The countryside hospital gave me IV meds, but no imaging. I was supposed to stay hospitalized until Monday for a neuro consult, but a random doctor just discharged me without a visit today. I had regained ability by 5am in the morning.

That hospital is infamous and is shutting down as well..

Everyone in my family is laughing at me, said I made it up. They are incredibly mean.

My dad even came into the hospital in the night drunk and yelled at me to try and walk as it was probably "all in my head". He left before staff kicked him out.

AIO here? I wanted to seek a neuro consult on Monday. I genuinely could not walk and would fall/lose balance. They keep ridiculing me about it.

30F, constipated since months and I look like a hot air balloon, need advice

As title says, 30F, 171cm, 65kg. Started suffering suddenly from chronic constipation two years ago, the same time I was diagnoses with optic neuritis (negative MRI, treated with prednisone).

It got worse this November, where I would go three weeks-one month without bowel movements. My stomach started to bloat so much I look pregnant (I am not pregnant) and don't fit into most of my clothes during flare ups anymore.

Sometimes my stomach suddenly resets, and it's all fine.

This is the worst episode yet, in late June my stomach became so bloated, hard to touch suddenly. I became extremely constipated. Took px macrogol, but I haven't had a normal, healthy bowel movement since.

I eat healthy, I hiked 80km in mountains to see whether more exercise would improve my situation and ended up almost fainting multiple times.

ER is hit or miss (colonoscopy was fine), they referred me for more visits but they are taking months. I also went to a private gastro, and he was abysmal. Said to try 800kcal a day diet to see whether I would debloat.

Currently I look like an hot air balloon, with so much pain in my stomach. It actually hurts so much. ER is not really helpful. Any advice?

The level of medical gaslighting (not sure if it's because I'm a young woman) has been insane. I objectively look extremely bloated. People ask me if I'm pregnant everyday. I was given no proper medical protocol to follow.

Imaging consistently says stool is sitting in the right side of my stomach, with the left side full of air.

I eat a very healthy diet and I exercise. My tongue looks "white" for some reason and I have no idea why. No kids, regular periods.

Why the hate against AI?

Crossposting here again :)

I genuinely don't understand the hate towards AI. Environmental concerns aside.

I have the enterprise version for the three main models, and - as long as you are a subject expert to discern the subtle details - it's such an helpful tool.

It analyzes situations better than many lawyers (especially lawyers) and doctors, you can literally cross compare the model inputs (two or three models don't hallucinate all at the same time).

It does not agree with you all the time at all. OpenAI has actually too many safeguards, it always tries to be impartial.

It's reminds me of when Google came out and people were skeptical.

If AI is so incompetent, how can it be evil and take over the world at the same time?

What do you think of my boyfriend lies?

I got feedback I could be ENTP - and tested between ENTP and INTJ for years so crossposting here :)

I (F, INTJ/ENTP(?)) have been dating my boyfriend (M, ESTJ) for a few years.

He comes from a very rich, spoiled background. He lied to his family all the time (would go on holiday and tell them he was at work).

Recently he started bragging about the interactions with this coworker. Stating he was a trans man. And he said "don't worry, not asian" (completely random, but he has a thing for asian women).

The coworker was indeed not a trans man, but a woman. I texted her and yeah, she's an asian woman.

I confronted him, caught red handed and he's been defending his position, giving the silent treatment for 5 days.

I am also in charge of planning our summer holidays (he says he's "too busy") for this man.

Why is he not admitting he lied?

EDIT: Forgot to add he was also stalking her online. Taking notes of her clothes for.. years? He remembered what she wore 3 years ago on IG.

EDIT 2: I'm not even asian, I'm latina. So it seems he does have a huge thing for asian women, but for some reason dated a latina.

EDIT 3: I clarified this in comments, but I actually specialised in forensic reconstruction for litigation. And genuinely I always think "how can this person not accept reality/the situation?", and then I realized it's so common. Some people never accept it.

What's hugely helpful is hearing others' opinions, hence why I'm here :)
