I made a gallery for browsing and sharing startpages made by the community, featuring sort options, metadata, and tags!

Hello r/startpages!

Over the last couple of months I have made Startpage Gallery, a gallery for browsing and sharing startpages made by this community!

You can browse the submitted startpages, search for specific tags or keywords, and sort by date added, date updated, number of stars, and more. You can also easily submit a startpage you enjoy, or one that you have created, by filling out submission form on GitHub.

If you have any suggestions for the website, feel free to ask, and if you wish to submit a bug report, feature request, or pull request, feel free to submit one! I am quite excited about this project, and I would love to see it improve!

GitHub: https://github.com/InterstellarOne/startpage-gallery
Submit a startpage: https://github.com/InterstellarOne/startpage-gallery/issues/new?template=submit-startpage.yml

Why I made it:

Last fall I had the idea to make an up-to-date list of startpages. I love checking out what startpages people have made, but after I saw one that I like when browsing Github, extension stores or this subreddit, I didn't have a good way to keep track of it or share it. There are lots of cool startpages that people have made that you may not know about, just because you've never come across them.

I had looked for a list of startpages at the time and didn't see one that had been recently updated, so I decided to make my own. I then realized it would be nice to have an image and a link to each platform that each startpage is on, but if I were to just do so in a single markdown document, it would have been pain to navigate. That is when I had the idea to make a standalone website!

At that time I did not know JavaScript, and I was also really busy with university. So I put the idea on the back-burner, made a concept mockup over winter break (which ended up being scrapped anyways due to UI issues) and earlier this summer I learned JavaScript and Astro in order to make this website, which I have spent the last two months putting together in my free time. JavaScript is actually quite similar to C, which I was already familiar with, so it was easier than I expected, but still a lot of fun.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading! If you want to help in a small way, submit a startpage or two that you enjoy and use! That way, more people can discover the startpage you are currently using.

My personal desktop with iNiR

This is my personal desktop setup with the iNiR shell and kwybars visualizer. This shell + Niri is a perfect fit for my workflow, and has made my system a lot more organized than it was when I was using hyprland. I usually use GUIs and mouse-based controls more so than keyboard-based or CLIs, so this setup is perfect for my needs with all the GUI panels and settings available.

The shell itself is close to default iNiR with some widgets and colorscheme changes, so I won't be providing any dots for it.

Shell: iNiR

WM: Niri

Visualizer: Kwybars - dots

Music Player: Cider

Browser: Floorp with Natsumi Browser

Music Player: tidal-hifi-tidaluna with Tidal Light theme and Radiant Lyrics plugin

Wallpaper - Overlay - Extra icons from macosicons.com

Wearing the Pebble Time 2 to sleep?

I have a bumper and a screen protector but I am still cautious and take mine off when I sleep. Do others have good experience wearing it to sleep?

Did the play queue behavior change?

I'm not one who likes dealing with a queue. I put on an album, and then when I am done with that album and play a song from another album, I want it to clear the queue and start from that song in the new album. This is how it worked until a week or so ago. Now, at least in desktop, when I play a new song, it adds it to the middle of my current queue, so I have to clear my queue whenever I want to play something new.

Has anyone else noticed a change in behavior? Is there any way to disable it? I left Apple music partly because the queue worked like this and I didn't like it. I probably won't leave tidal but I don't like having to go and clear my queue all the time.

My Lego storage

I am primarily a Technic + mechanical MOC creator, so my storage mostly is based around the technic parts, with other common pieces sorted by type in bins and tackle boxes, and less useful pieces in larger mixed bins. My space is quite limited, so most of the non-technic parts need to be stored on my shelves and I take them out when I need them.

by far the best linux setup I've had

Featuring iNiR and Kwybars

Wallpaper - Overlay

I've been on linux for five years but I'm not sure if I've ever posted a linux setup because I didn't find what I could create to be as beautiful as windows setups with Rainmeter and Windhawk. However, yesterday I installed a shell known as iNiR, and it has blown my expectations out of the water. For something that is not even a full desktop environment, this has everything you could need plus all the options to customize it how you want it. It feels like KDE Plasma customization with GNOME design language. Even when you need to change options in the text configs, they are filled with helpful comments and it is extremely easy to accomplish whatever you need. Everything feels very cohesive.

I'm basically unable to converse in larger group conversations. Is this something that I can improve?

For background, I'm pretty quiet and shy normally, and I'm high-functioning autistic so it is sometimes hard to figure out what I can say to add to a conversation. I do try though, and I definitely bring things to a conversation when I know some of the people involved.

The problem for me is when I'm in a big group (4 or more people) and I'm unfamiliar with most of the people in the group, I freeze up and find myself unable to converse. It's not that I don't want to, or that I'm too anxious to, it's like a physical response blocking me from speaking. If someone asks me a question or I need to ask someone else something, I can usually say something, but it's very difficult to converse normally in situations like these.

Once I get more familiar with a group of people or a particular environment I can much more easily chat naturally.

I don't know if this is just an intrinsic trait of mine, or something that I could work on. Of anyone has any advice, it would be a great help. Thanks.
