Got selected into a top IIM this year but genuinely torn between going for the MBA or directly joining my family business.
Family business has a total turnover of around ₹70-75 crore.
For people who’ve faced this choice — what did you do and do you regret it?
Looking for real experiences, not just the obvious answer.
A bit of background:
- I’m 25, a Mechanical Engineer from NIT, have been working at a multinational company for about 2.5 years (for a little bit of independence and exposure) with a good enough salary.
- But my childhood dream has always been to own a business.

Currently, my rank is 37 and Open category rank is 42 in IIM Lucknow and as of 22nd may PWD cut-off is at 37. So what are my chances of clearing the cutoff in the next waitlist movement?
