Stonetop: Safe material to share with players?

Hi!

Got the books the other day. My wife is going to gm a game for me and some of our friends. I'm wondering what part of the material can I read up on beforehand to prepare? I want to get to know the world and game mechanics, but not get spoiled on anything major. I'd do this partly because I want to devour this game, but also because I find it helpful when not just the GM knows stuff about both the world and the rules.

Any tips?

Cheers!

Garlic going green?

Hi!

Doing my (F37) first vacuum ferment with like 3,5% salt. Mystery peppers from a friend, but they're supposed to be around 1M SU. Carrots, yellow onion, and garlic.

Aired the bag today (after like 1½-2 wks) and noticed the garlic had gone green. I would assume it's safe and normal, but wanted to run it by the knowledgeable peeps in this sub.

Thankful for any insights about his and advice on vacuum ferments in general.🌶

Forgetful partner, end of my string

Hi.

My (F37) wife (F35, n dx) has undiagnosed neurodivergence. I'm a psychologist who has worked with assessments before and we've openly had discussions about diagnosis criteria and her possible diagnosis (has both symptoms of ADHD and autism). We've talked about her getting a proper clinical assessment.

That was the background. Now my conundrum:

She forgets things all the time. We've been together for more than 11 yrs and I've kind of reluctantly accepted that I have to be her external memory. I constantly remind her of things or where she has put her stuff (or remind her to bring them, or help her search for them). The crux is that she also forgets to do chores or tasks that I've asked her to do. It's not always, but I quite often have to choose between doing the thing myself or having to accept that it might not get done and/or nag at her (which helps like 30-40% of the time but we both hate it).

I've noticed that my temper has gotten a bit worse and I am frustrated. We've talked about her forgetfulness and she is aware of it. I've bought her tags for her keys and wallet, and she has a "find my phone" function on her smartwatch, so those are good. But when it comes to other kinds of memory aids she just refuses. She says she gets super stressed out having to-do lists, visual schedules, reminders etc. The few times she's used reminders she usually just turn them off. She says her brain goes "oh, right I have to do that thing" and then after having thought about the task for 2 sec sorts it under "Done".

Some examples as of late:

Dry boiled coffee and tea twice in a week.

I asked her 4 times to wash her feet before going to bed after having been outdoors without shoes (she got shoe chafing and had to take them off). She said she'd do it but then forgot.

I ask her to clean up in the kitchen but then it doesn't get done (I clean up a lot while cooking and have now realised that if something is urgent I have to do it (cleaning up cast-iron pans, clean wooden utensils so they don't soak, clean or turn bowls upside down if there are leftovers that would be bad for our cat).

I do all the cooking at home and help keep the kitchen clean. But if I ask her to take care of the last of the dishes there's still a 75% chance that I have to start my next cooking session with doing dishes so I have room to work.

There are other things as well, but you get the picture.

It's super frustrating and she really does her best. She's aware of her problems and get angry/sad at herself for failing/not remembering. But nothing really gets better and I spend a lot of physical, cognitive, and emotional energy navigating this.

She's kind and supportive as a partner, and I would love advice and support on how to deal with this. Thanks!

Tatami-beri in Eu?

Hi!

I'm starting up a sashiko-project and was thinking of integrating some tatami-beri (border-fabric). Only problem is that I can't find anywhere in EU that sells it. Do any of you know where I can order from?

Bra veterinär?

Hej!

Confusing info on Shapton

Hi!

Just got two Shapton kuromaku. On the box it says to not let the stones stay in water too long, on the product page it says they're splash and go, and on the paper inside the case it says they are supposed to soak for 5-6min before use.

I am confused 😅

Can anyone help me out with clarification?

Need help with diagnosis

Hi!

First time grower here.

My plants have all started looking very sad the last couple of days. They had these little green/white bugs on them so I've been spraying the leaves with a mixture of water, soap, and vinegar. They stand in a window and get some sun, but it hasn't been that warm or sunny lately.

Any ideas as to what is happening?

Need help selecting stones

Hi!

I'm looking to beef out my collection of stones. I have a Tawa combination stone #1000/#3000.

I got a cheap set of stones off of amazon (400/1000 and 5000/8000), but those were soft and likely lower grit. Did a decent job though. A couple of weeks ago I went to a sharpening class with my mother and have since given her the amazon stones.

So now I need to complement my collection with a lower and a higher grit stone. I've been looking at Shapton glass 500 and the Rockstar #500 or Shapton pro #320 (buying from my closest online store they're all the same price).

I am more unsure about the higher grit stone. There's king, shapton, and naniwa stones in the store.

So looking for recommendations on lower and higher grit stones to complement my 1000/3000. Have been reading a lot of recommendations on here, but somehow still at a loss as to what to actually get.
