What are you planning to read for the challenges?

For me, I'm probably going to choose...

  • Community Picks: Little Fires Everywhere, or maybe The Savage Detectives (the only problem with the latter is my husband is currently halfway through it and has been for 3 months and it would make sense to borrow his copy but I don't want to accidentally spoil it for him).
  • Challenge Faves: Heated Rivalry. My sister has been going on and on at me to read it.
  • Chart Toppers: Uuuuuugh I don't know. Nothing really jumps out. Maybe Yesteryear just because it seems like everyone is reading it?
  • Staff Shelves: The Last Unicorn. It's been sitting on my shelves for a while. I remember loving the film as a kid.
  • Worlds Away: The Ministry of Time. This has also been sitting on my shelves for a while.
  • Fact or Fiction: Shuggie Bain. This one too.

I reserve the right to change my mind about any or all of these.

Extra spoons gift ideas

My friend has CFS and has a birthday coming up.

I was considering a gift of "extra spoons*". Basically a pack of coupons she can use so I'll help out with a task she doesn't have the energy for.

I was thinking:

- Make a phone call

- Book an appointment

- Arrange groceries/take out delivery

But after that I'm out of ideas.

Does anyone have any more? We don't live in the same town, so they need to be things I can do remotely.

*Spoons being a metaphor for energy.

ETA: thanks everyone for the great ideas and contributions. It sounds like, whatever I do, I should probably chat to her first. It takes away the surprise, but it'll help to make sure the gift is something she can use.

And thank you to the anonymous redditor who just gave me my first reddit award!

Breakfast made using up stuff in the fridge

Black pudding, avocado, mushrooms, and a boiled egg. A little heavier on the black pudding than would be ideal, but not bad

The almonds were good

My score:

Sandwich: decent but a bit weird. Cheddar has no place in a chicken club sandwich. Not that it's bad exactly, just that it's weird to find it there. 6/10.

Drink: I rarely see ice tea on this sub and I have no idea why. It's underrated. 8/10.

Snack: This is the first time I'd seen matcha chocolate almonds in Tesco. They were pretty good! 7/10.

Overall: 7/10.
