Does this count as a lamination issue?

No major damage but giant hole, looks like the clad was removed. Leaning on damage but had someone suggesting it might be or slight interest.

1979 Kennedy half.

Ran into a fake Barber for sale

I thought this was a really fun text book example to demonstrate a neat looking coin that’s fake as all could be. It’s a cool coin that’s not all that common so a lot of people might not second guess this.

The coin shows several visual signs that point toward a fake: the surfaces have a rough, grainy, almost sand-cast texture rather than the smoother flow lines and wear pattern expected on a struck silver Barber half; the details are mushy in places, especially the stars, denticles, lettering, eagle, and Liberty’s portrait; the dark toning looks artificial and uneven, as if used to hide surface problems; and the reeded edge appears crude and irregular. The raised-looking pitting and bubbly texture are especially suspicious, because real wear and corrosion usually remove metal, while cast counterfeits often show this kind of pebbled surface.

After seeing the visuals, the coin was removed from the flip and ping tested and magnet tested. It seems to be like lead and/or copper maybe. Not sure. A big thunk without a ring was heard when dropped and pinged.

Got a blank quarter in with some change 😁

Proper weight and size as well as proper clad layering. The last thing I was expecting. Quickly into a flip to avoid spending it 😁

My Type 1 Standing Liberty

Introduced in 1916, this design featured Liberty with an exposed breast, symbolizing purity and freedom. It was part of a broader effort to modernize U.S. coinage.

Then came type 2 - the redesign was prompted by public concerns regarding the propriety of the original design. The changes included covering Liberty's breast and adding three stars below the eagle on the reverse.

I been using a bicentennial for my primary lighter for years now and been looking forward to a 250 for ages. I feel like this year is on par with an elementary school kid slapping star stickers on everything. I’ll stick with vintage stuff 😭.

This fellow has been on a shelf for years here. The wheels and gears have some swelling and cracking so there was little I could do to get the wheels to spin nicely again. Finally swapped in a motor from a 400 loco and it fit will, letting this body go around the track for the first time in a long time.
